Would Romo have trade value next year?

If we decided to go with Dak next year with one year remaining on Romo's contract could there be a team that might feel they are just a QB away?

What would he potentially bring us as in a draft pick or is his injury concern too grave an issue for another team to undertake?
I think they may be able to get a late first for him for a team one QB away

Oh please let this happen! Part of the reason our defense sucks so bad is we haven't been able to pay the money necessary to help build it because of how much we paid Romo.

Psssssh, cause no good defensive teams pay QB's

If Brees hangs em up this year, I could see Payton giving up something worthwhile for Romo as a bridge. Would probably be a high second

Brees just signed a new deal and says he wants to play for another 5 years.

Romo's not going anywhere. I think that Dak is the future but when Romo is healthy, he starts. He may have to accept a Tim Duncan kind of reduced role but he's going to be a Cowboy until he hangs it up.

The bottom line is that unless Romo wants to be traded, you do not just auction him off to the highest bidder. You do not treat the face of the franchise like that after everything he has done for this team.

Add to it that fact that he has never been given a good defense to play with, his offensive line was never upgraded until just these last couple of seasons, and he was given a head-coach-in-training that has made many game day blunders that cost the team a chance at victory. Jerry Jones even said that he didn't want to get rid of Garrett because another team would benefit from Garrett learning from all of his mistakes and that the Cowboys are the ones that should benefit down the road from all of his mistakes.

This is not some JAG we are talking about, not some mercenary free agent that didn't work out, not some high draft pick that has not lived up to expectations, we are talking about the face of the franchise over the last decade. You do not just toss him out with the trash.

Yes, paying the best player on offense, who is one of the toughest guys on the team, really hurt us as well.

We gave Romo less money than Joe ******* Flacco got around the same time.

Yeah, he is so tough.. he just skipped out on 2015 and half the games or more in 2016. He is wonderful let me tell you.

If you want to question his play, his decision making on the field, on that is fine........but questioning his toughness when he has played with every type of injury from broken ribs, to herniated disks, to a collapsed lung is just stupid and will get you laughed off this board.

I just can't think of a team in that situation that want him.
Denver would be ideal for a year, but they have two young QBs they want to develope
The Jets would be great with him, but Fitz is playing above average ball, so they would not go there.
The Viking may have been SB contenders with him but the took on Bradford.
The Cards would be good only if Palmer went down for season. Lol. Like Tony.

That's it, off the top of my head.

So, his value is far and away best here.

While I agree that Romo is someone you don't want to get rid of, no player should be above the good of the team. If trading him helped the team in a big way, then he should be traded....but it has to be a guaranteed help to the team. Dak isn't there yet and Romo is a very very good field general. It would take a heck of a lot to improve from that.

You can say what you want about the past but he is old and brittle now. His toughness of years past means jack squat. He couldn't stay on the field in 2015 which screwed us and he is screwing us again in 2016. Enough with the madness.

Some team's gotta have the cap space to take on Tony. And knowing Tony's injury history, doubt anyone would give up a 1st round pick.

Unreal. Yea, why didn't he play through two broken collarbones? What a pansy, right? I mean, tough guys play through broken collarbones all the time.

He broke a bone in his back in 2016. You want him to play through a broken bone in his back? He was willing to come back and shrugged off the injury at first after the game.

In 2014 when we went on that run, and he had his career year, he had two fractures in his back. Yet, he played through it at a high level. After he fractured that bone off his vertebrate, he came back and played in that game. That's tough. You remember those weeks where he would get shots to perform?

I get the frustration of him missing time. But to question his toughness is laughable. If he could be out there, he would be.
