Would Romo have trade value next year?

Contract is too big, he is on the wrong side of 35, and his back issues are too worrisome. I really don't think the Cowboys would get much in terms of value.

Romo will always be a Cowboy.

No use letting your mind wander about it unless you're into those what if scenarios i guess.

There's nothing wrong with hypothetical exercises. They can be interesting. I'm glad he brought it up even though I don't think it would ever happen.

In 2018 without Romo would save 25.2 million in cap space and 23.7 million in 2019. Financially speaking that flexibility would be a boon for the Cowboys.
Oh please let this happen! Part of the reason our defense sucks so bad is we haven't been able to pay the money necessary to help build it because of how much we paid Romo.

fair enough. By all means carry on with the Cowboys Nation deep fiction section. It's all good. No harm.

This hypothetical excersize though is the most outlandish of them all I will give u that. Jerry is do or die with Romo. Romo is practically his godson.

lol. Unless ole Jerry croaks his boy ain't going anywhere. Besides, his trade value is practically zero. He is 36 with a bloated contract and one hit away from retirement.

I think so but I think hwo much value depends on his contract. I don't know if he'll restructure or what to make it look favorable to a team. He may not get the respect he deserves around this league but people especially a contender would flock to him even if it is a year or two rental.

I am not advocating it all but Romo would get us a 1st round pick min as long as he is healthy

He is under contract for 3 years at 14m, 19.5m and 20m

A team like CLE or SF with a ton of money and no QB would jump all over it

I could see Romo taking a pay cut and staying at 10m next year and 5m a year after that to backup Dak

It is definitely outlandish. I don't believe it could happen barring Romo (for some reason) decided he wanted out but still wanted to play football.

WRONG.

The problem has not been no money to pay defensive players, its the defensive players who are getting the money. Brandon Carr got $50 million and plays like a JAG. You can also add Tyron Crawford to the list of players that got paid and done jack since.

That has been the problem, who got the money................the money was there, just given to the wrong players.

That is part of the problem too. But paying all that money to Romo hurt us as well.

Romo's not going to want to be a backup.

Yes, paying the best player on offense, who is one of the toughest guys on the team, really hurt us as well.

We gave Romo less money than Joe ******* Flacco got around the same time.

If the Cowboys cut him after all he has meant to the franchise, that will be the end of his NFL career. If we don't value him, no one else will.
