Nope. Not the only reason. Dak played poorly in Game 1. Maybe a fluke, and maybe he just wasn't prepared for the season. We know he *can* play better, and has usually played much better, and better than what we've seen from Rush.
But Dak's Game 1 was significantly worse than what we've seen from Rush since. It's reasonable to wonder if Dak just wasn't ready for the season, and will still play worse than Rush when he is 100% healthy. Rush is playing well if not spectacularly. I'm not putting Dak at least until we see him in practice *looking good*.

Everyone played poorly in game one we didn’t play any of our key players in preseason. Plus the Bucs defense was the best we’ve played all season. Our defense didn’t play well in game one giving up over 150 yards on the ground. We only sacked Brady twice. Cooper Rush got a lot of snaps in preseason and is just managing games. We have the 27th ranked offense with him. We only generated 10 first downs last Sunday but our defense was so spectacular we still won by 12 points. We’re winning games with defense and a consistent kicker. We’re going to need more offense tonight if we’re going to win.

Ummm...the same way they did last season. Am I actually conversing with a bot? You don't seem very bright.

No team is the same season to season. Do you feel Dallas is not allowed to have a top defense this season because they didn’t last season?

Last year Dallas hung 29 on Tampa. This year they managed 3. You would have had the 32nd best offense in the nfl going into week 2 if Dak were healthy. He would have needed to blow out every team in the schedule just to get back to top 5. That’s not realistic

Be honest; if Dak hadn't gotten hurt in the 19-3 drubbing at the hands of Tom Brady and the Buccaneers, who believes the Cowboys would have won the next four games?
Do you think a Dak led offense would have beat Cincinnati and Los Angeles- last year's Super Bowl teams- and the now 4-1 Giants and 2-4 "Commanders" in a 4 game stretch?
Its 100% yes. We have had a bottom 5 offense with rush at the helm

8 pages in and people are still babbling about a hypothetical that can never be proven but allow your emotions to dictate your posts instead of logic.

Could Dak have scored 11 on LAR? Yes

Could Dak have scored 11 on WaComm? Yes

Could Dak have scored 17 on the giants? Yes

Could Dak have scored 20 the Bengals? Yeah Maybe

this isn’t exactly Young subbing for Montana here

Could Rush have scored 3 against TB? Yes

The point to this hypothetical?

Points scored is just one metric. Yards per completion, yards per carry, total passing yards, total rushing yards, completion percentage, QBR, time of possession, YAC etc ... These are all taken into consideration when rating an offense.

Do you believe he would have performed better against the TB defense than any of the other teams you’ve played so far?

Well I threw out a hypothetical just like you and so many others did in this thread that is meaningless.

The point is, who is better Dak or Rush ?

Dak has a much better beard game. He looks like he’s a grizzled Texan who’s been working in the oil fields for 30 years:

Rush looks like he has a bad sunburn

All were toward the bottom of the league vs TB. Same home whichever metric you’re trying to climb out of

Many have been babbling for 3 weeks now that rush needs to be starter even when Dak returns when they already know it isn’t happening so speaking of allowing emotions to dictate post instead of logic

it’s a common theme in zone

Yea, see that's why they don't base your seasonal/current rankings off of just your first game. You're not very good at this are you?

You can’t ignore the first game either, especially when it represents 20% of all the activity you’ve done thus far
