It's called free agency and we may have holes to fill. CJ split carries with Chris ivory and averaged 4+ypc in an offense where they threw the ball 10x a game.

Jake locker has the measurable you look for in a QB and has played for an anemic titans offense. The benefit of a locker is his age.

Whew, thanks. Ill be kickin trivial pursuits *** tonight!

Jake locker as a backup qb? Has been injury prone, but has played well in spurts. He is relatively young and probably won't look to start anywhere else.

Chris johnson - if we don't sign murray and lose randle to legal issues and Dunbar to FA our rb core consists of ryan williams. Do we sign CJ to decent deal and draft a rb later?

I'm trying to decipher your oddly written post. You said that he wouldn't be looking to start anywhere else. That would denote that he would be looking to start here (presumably after Romo retired). Thus my question.

I didn't get that at all. He said backup in the first sentence. I believe the last sentence was to clarify that the guy won't be getting starting offers - which would make it easier to sign him as a backup.

I'd be open to either. You would have to look outside the league to find a worse QB than Brandon Weeden. Johnson might be able to help you in a very limited role. I think he could probably be really effective in a good offense with limited touches. I sure as bleep would rather see him than Lance Dunbar.

Johnson had about 5-6 straight 1000 yard seasons...few have ever done that.
But the last two years have not been pretty . Like someone said, it's a young mans game especially at RB.
Fwiw, the guy had never really played on a team with a good passing game. Open things up some and he could be effective ....but as RS said, in a limited capacity.

The thing is, it's a great year to RB help later in the draft. If we also keep Murray, than were probably ok.

I'm just trying to clarify a confused poster. if you don't want to read threads about specific players don't open the thread. Chris johnson and Jake locker are realistic options and should be considered.

Former Jets RB Chris Johnson blamed GM John Idzik for his reduced role last season.

One of the things that will make Johnson so unappealing as a free agent is his constant excuse-making. He's always blaming someone else for his lack of on-field production, whether it's the offensive line or now the front office. Johnson should understand that his role was reduced last season because Chris Ivory ran better and with more effort in every category. Feb 17 - 8:50 AM

I don't disagree with that quote at all. What I disagree with is writing a player off because he played poorly on the jets. If we are in the free agent market for a rb it makes sense to take a chance on CJ - then may 5-6 million to AP or a shane vareen.

No, unless their pass rushing skills are better than we all think.

For the Cowboys it's not so much about exactly how he played for the Jets, but how he would fit in the locker room. He seems that a guy that would be a malcontent if he was not the starter.

And his last few years in tenn show why he went elsewhere. Hes not been worth a damn in years.

I remember the last 'worn out in Tennessee' that Dallas took onto the roster...

I like Locker as a backup better than Weeden. Randle is a good change of pace back, but his other problems make one wonder if he's going to be around this year, and even if he is he'll probably be on a short rope. I'll take Chris Johnson if he isn't too expensive to take Randle's carries and be the vet starter if DeMarco goes down.

I can tell if your serious... locker as a backup qb and Chris johnson in rb rotation. I think Chris johnson will be cheaper then your top tier rbs and has big play ability. With the threat of our passing game it could be a nice combination.

CJ put up some nice stats with the Jets too.

I like Locker.. I'd swoop him up quick if he is available.
