Would we be a Dominate D if...

We some how got Chris McAllister...Moved Anthony to FS.....Made Watkins or Hamlin the SS and got rid or Bradie in put Roy at middle LB?

I think wed be super bowl bound....to bad all i can do is dream....and hope Phillips plan works out (which i think it might)

and FYI i love Henry and I am comfortable with him at CB...but i just love Chris McAllister and what he can do....id love to see him and Newman on the same team.

Anyways What Corner would you...rather have playing next to Newman other than Henry? But Henry would have to be the FS, and what other defense adjustments would u guys do if you were coach to make the D dominate in your eyes?

im bored and cant wait for TC, thats my excuse for starting this thread

The best and easiest way for us to dominate is for Anthony Spencer to be as good as Demarcus Ware. A QB can throw completions on
ANY defense given enough time (see Cowboys). With constant pressure, those lasers thrown into 2 foot spaces are now thrown into 6 football spaces (scattered). That alone will add a few years to Henry and Glenn's career. And it will allow Roy to chop people up on quick passes.

I'd rather see Hamlin return to his 05 Forum and be done with it. I think Henry, if healthy is going to be a nice fit for our pressure defense. You need to have somebody to match up against bigger WRs. Henry can play that kind of match up when healthy. I wouldn't say no to McAllister but I honestly think we'll be fine if Hamlin can play to forum and Henry can be healthy.

In our front seven, I agree that we need Spencer to play well for us this year. If Ellis comes back strong, we're in great shape. To me though, Canty and Spears need to show up this year. They need to be more then just guys who occupy a single block and neer get off it. Both those guys are key for us this year, IMO.

I think if we do a better job of getting pressure on the QB the secondary will be more than fine. McAllister plays on a team that recorded the 2nd most sacks in the NFL. No doubt he is good player but it helps when the front 7 is forcing QB's to get rid of it quicker than they want to.

hell yea.....i agree with you and dooms day......especially the Canty ans Spears are key thing...i think they are in a way real Key to our success....and i swear if i hear reports that Hamlin is looking like his old self in TC, i will have an heart attack

McCallister is a stud CB, no doubt, but we would become dominant only with a consistent pass rush. His addition would be nice, but I am hoping that a healthy Ellis and what Spencer brings to the pass rush will get us better on defense. We also have to have the DL become more than speed bumps...which they will do in the new scheme.
