Would You Be Disappointed if we kept the same 5 OL?

Given what happened in Minnesota, would you be disappointed if we started the season with the exact same starting 5 OL as we ended the year with?

no, as long as we had some good back ups

I was about to say the same. Main issue is to address the Oline hopefully in the draft

Nope because when they are healthy they among the best in the league. However we need to start looking at the future.

I want:
Adams/Iupati/Gurode/Davis/Colombo

With Jason Fox drafted in the 3rd so backup tackles are Free and Fox being built up for the future.

If it happens that way

Free/Iupati/Gurode/Davis/Fox could start as soon as 2011. w/ Colombo as #1 backup-

It depends on how good the OL that we draft, if we have some good young backups I would not be that upset, I but I think we need to get some good young linemen this year.

I'd honestly be suprised if we don't have the same 5 starters on the o-line next season.

Me either but hopefully with better backups than Proctor, McQ and Preston

I agree but hopefully it will be with young men who are making a serious push for playing time as the season goes on. I'm not expecting a rookie to just walk in and take over a job but I would like to think we could get some young talent in who by mid season is making the progress to compete for more than just a backup role

I'll take this, but I'd like to see us hold on to Koiser provided he's still one of our best 10 lineman.

If you look back at our last two season ending losses, you can make the make the argument/place the blame right on our lack of OL depth.

We don't need the best starting 5 OL in the NFL, but we should strive to have the leagues best 5 reserve OL.

They will not start a rookie unless he is just light years better than the current starter. I really dislike that about this group of coaches. Having said that, I really hope they give Free the opportunity to win a position this year because he played great at Right Tackle when Colombo went down.

I am also getting it in my head that Iupati will not be there when we pick, so I hope that we can get another good line prospect with either our first or second pick.

Keeping and starting the same 5 linemen is likely what's going to happen. I see no one stepping up to take any of their places, not quite yet anyway, so there's really no reason to be disappointed.

I would be disappointed if they don't get some young guys in there to challenge the starters in training camp.

Unless Free beats Colombo out which I doubt will happen, we will have the same starting five. We need to build for the future. I'm hoping Brewster works out well.

So am I. I'm also warming up to the idea of trading up for him or any OL prospect we really like.
It's been a while since we've traded up in RD1. We went quantity last year. Since we have such a stacked roster and so many 2nd yr prospects returning, maybe we should go quality this year.

Think that's a given. The only question is what type resources the allocate to making that happen.

This draft needs to be first round Iupati third round Fox and we are set.

Trading Koiser and our 1st round could get us up a few spots

no, but if we don't spend a few draft picks on some depth and possible future starters i'll be very disappointed

I would be 100% for that scenario. With all the injured rookies that hardly ever saw the field, it almost seems like we have three or four new faces without drafting a single person. Jumping up a few spots to nab a real player that could challenge for a role from the start would not be such a bad scenario. I tell ya, it would really stink to have another scenario like Max Unger last year. That just bummed me out all offseason!
