Would you consider signing Saquon Barkley as Zeke replacement?

Was talking with my neighbor earlier who's a Giant fan. He thinks the Giants are going to letting him walk coz no way they are giving him a long-term deal and he's not worth tagging. IF correct, his market value is lower than I expected. With a history of injuries, he may have to settle for a prove-it deal before getting a long-term.

Spotrac puts his market value at $4.4M or 4 years $17.4M
2022 franchise tag for RB is $9.7M

That would be a no from me.

I won't argue against someone that believes Barkley is better than Zeke.

But if we are going to pay top dollar for a player, they better be able to play 16+ games a season (I won't hold them not playing the last game of the season if they are being rested for the playoffs against them)

Barkley hasn't been able to play a "full season" since his rookie year.

So IMO, no thanks.

Sure, if it's a good contract. He's a great RB, when healthy. But unfortunately for him, he just hasn't been that very often. So his contract would definitely have to reflect that and offer the team some very good protections. But I'd love to have a healthy Saquon as a Cowboy!

Zeke has 105 yards on 25 attempts....

Barkley has 236 yards on 39 attempts....

We don't need an injury prone Barkley, we just need to give Zeke MORE DAMN CARRIES!!!

We already have a fast explosive back in Pollard. If we sign or draft a RB to replace Zeke then I'd shoot for between the tackles, tough runner that can get the short yardage plays.

One big question in my mind is would you guys want Zeke back next year if he took a massive pay cut? I go back and forth on that one. If Zeke was willing to take a massive pay cut I still would use either our 2nd, or 3rd or 4th pick to draft a replacement.

Why ever pay a RB second contract money. RB's are a dime a dozen. Zeke was a big mistake and now you want to get into that sink hole again. Dumb.

I’d take Saquon on 5m per season in a heartbeat. 12-15m per season is where the top contracts for a running back are and if you can get a guy as talented as Barkley on 1/3 of the price of a top running back then you should take it.

I would consider it if Zeke refuses to take lesser pay after this season AND Saquon is willing to accept a $3.2/year new contract.

I'm with you on that AC Barkley is 2 years younger than Zeke

For between 3and 4 mil a year with his work ethic which from what I've read is excellent he could save us from having to use a high draft pick.

Absolutely correct, brother. We have bigger needs at other positions with our first 3 round picks.

Does Barkley know about that salary? LOL!

I'm sure he does but I think it's safe to say it may be off a bit but not by much. As stated, I don't see any team giving him a long-term deal until he proves he can stay healthy. Likewise, I don't see him wanting to accept a long-term deal at the current market value........hence a one year prove-it deal.
