Would you consider signing Saquon Barkley as Zeke replacement?

If we have learned anything from Zeke, it's that no RB should get a second, high end contract. Even Derrick Henry is showing signs of decay
Should always be improving your RB depth and having RBs with more upside than just special teams duty.
We have better RB depth this year than we have had recently, but that should never stop the churn.
Better be throwing at least a 3rd at the position next draft.

Was talking with my neighbor earlier who's a Giant fan. He thinks the Giants are going to letting him walk coz no way they are giving him a long-term deal and he's not worth tagging. IF correct, his market value is lower than I expected. With a history of injuries, he may have to settle for a prove-it deal before getting a long-term.

Spotrac puts his market value at $4.4M or 4 years $17.4M
2022 franchise tag for RB is $9.7M

Absolutely not, he doesn’t have the durability to be but a change of pace back!

I think the OP is far underestimating the contract that Barkley will receive. Having said that if he signs for less than $4M per year I would sign him immediately.

He has played behind a horrific OL his entire career. One year behind a really good line would change everything for him.

He will not be taking that if he were the NYG will keep him jeez..rather draft a guy in the 3rd round cheap fresh RB..

I agree that Barkely won't take that but that was the contract proposed in the OP and he's worth more than that. But yeah, I would go with a 2nd - 4th rounder to replace Zeke rather than keep his bloated contract or put Barkley on one in his place.

You don't finally get rid of 1 big contract to get yourselves into another.

If zeke is gone find his replacement after the 1st round in the draft.
There is a huge difference in 4.4M average for Barkley vs 15M average for Zeke.

To be fair, 15M is Zeke's average. The cost to keep him vs cut him is his base salary of 10.6M for 2023.

The more serious question is should the Cowboys give Pollard a new contract?

They're obviously going to cut Zeke. It will be the 1st year since his big contract that his salary is not guaranteed.

For me it’s more of a matter of signing a running back to a 2nd contract when we can “find” a back in the next draft. I don’t think Saquon will be leaving NY any time soon regardless of what the op link says.

Zeke has 105 yards on 25 attempts....

Barkley has 236 yards on 39 attempts....

We don't need an injury prone Barkley, we just need to give Zeke MORE DAMN CARRIES!!!

zeke would get more Carrie’s if we didn’t punt so much when we feature him. He simply doesn’t move the chains anymore.

He's off to a good start, I think he'll earn more than that by year end. However, even if Barkelys contract was 8-9 million a year that's a better value than Elliott's 15 million a year. If we're simply talking about swapping then yes.

We'll see what Zeke's year brings but at this point re-signing Pollard and then drafting a back in round 2 to 4 rounds seems like a more prudent strategy. We could probably end up drafting a couple rookie backs and plug them in too.

Nah, we've already got Pollard, "develope" from the PS, then draft.

No need to pickup someone else's baggage at this point of time.
