Would you give up the next 10 years to mediocrity if it meant we ran the table this year, beating GB and
Seahawks at home, and finishing up with a Superbowl victory against New England or Denver? Which is arguably one of the hardest roads to a Superbowl.

If you said yes, just remember this, we have one of the youngest team's in the NFL (minus QB). And not only are they young, but they're extremely talented. You'd basically be throwing away extremely young talented players like Dez, Tyron, Bailey, Martin, Frederick, Lee, ect;

On the flip side, if you said no, just remember there's no guarantees in the NFL. Sure we have a talented team, but what if Romo's career is finished quicker then we think? Whether that's due to injury, or skill decline, this team is only as good as the man at the helm.

I personally would say yes, I'd give up 10 years of mediocrity to win another Super Bowl. After going so long without one, I realize they're very rare to come by and teams no longer win 2-3 of them in a row. If we had a younger QB who was just as talented (Aaron Rodgers or Andrew Luck), I would reconsider it, but with Romo I believe our window is only 2-3 years. That's if he continues to play at a high level.

So how about you guys? Would you do it?

So you would give up 10 chances for 1 sure thing, and then back to grind afterwards. Now if you said 3 I would be for it.

I don't think we'll have "10 chances". To have a chance you have to have a very good QB, or an outstanding team surrounding him. I think we realistically have 2-3 years (after this year) to win a title, in my opinion you're giving up 4 opportunities for a sure thing. At least that's how I see it.

No because then there would be absolutely no point in even watching for a decade. How would that be enjoyable?

Why not 18 years??

No for me, rather be competitive each and every year, especially since parity. We might just get 2 or 3 instead of the sole title!

That's when you just take a 10 year hiatus with Football.

Nothing wrong with having a little extra time to spend elsewhere.

This is exactly the what the devil asked jerry 20 years ago ............I would've said no.

I seriously can't be the only one who would take the deal. Well I mean on the forums, because we all know Jerry took a similar deal.

I don't understand why people pose these impossible hypotheticals. We fans have no control over either situation. Unless you have some genie in a bottle.

I almost said yes. Surprised I'm not going to say yes.

But definitely not....I want a team like NE...multiple super bowls...every year is exciting and enjoyable...pretty much a playoff team ever year...

It's just a simple question for discussion on a Cowboy forum(used for discussion). Nothing more nothing less. :)

I thought we already gave up 10 years of mediocrity. Our time is now !!! Potential realize the best team in 2014 !!!

I hope you're right, I think this is the year ... but man that's one brutal road to get to the show.

I hope it is the year for the Cowboys and I think if Dallas continues to do what they have been able to do over the last 4 years to get to this point that the future looks very promising. Dallas has been avoiding these big trades where we are giving up 2 1st rds for instant gratification that never panned out, instead they have looked to the mid level FA that are much more affordable to mix in with younger players. Granted the key will become QB and my hope is Dallas will start looking to bring in a QB and groom that player to be able to take over in the meantime who ever that QB may be it looks like he will be able to do it behind an very good OL that should be in place for quite a while
