Would you draft 2 Cb's in the first round?

If we dont trade or sign a FA cb and we draft a cb at 22 and at 28 one of the top 5 cbs is still there would you draft him or go else where. I know its unlikely to happen and we got holes at wr and rb, but henry is old and isnt durable and very well could be released or cut, Newman is approaching 31 and isnt durable himself. So if we draft one at 22 would you draft another at 28 if there still is one of the main cb's still there ( DRC, Talib, Mckelvin, jenkins, flowers etc. I know most of the main cb's will probably be gone but cb's are a hot commodity and another one could fall. I though it would be worth a discussion. Your thoughts?

MMM interesting. I say why not as well. Our cb's are old and so many teams are going to 3 and 4 wr sets. Henry will be gone this year or next so they can fight it out for his job and if newman goes at least he wouldnt be a rookie and would have some experience.

Depends on who is available. At 28, it might be better to trade down into round 2 and add more picks.

Been saying this for a month now. if not to in the first. two in the first three rounds. Move Henry to FS and Hamlin to SS. Cut your loses with Roy if he doesn't play better this year.

I really don't see us using our first 2 picks on CBs. Hopefully one of the top CBs will be available when we draft, so we should certainly draft 1 but also want a top WR (Kelly who won't be there when we pick but Hardy or Thomas who both will probably go late in first round & maybe even Sweed). I know there seems to be a high bust factor when drafting WRs in the first round but some also work out well. I think it's up to our scouts to find out enough about each of these players. If a WR has a great work ethic, is smart, runs good routes, has good hands & getting hit doesn't bother him, we've got ourselves a winner. Also think some WRs fail cause too much is expected right away. That's why it important that he gets the time to develop which is why I'm for signing Jevon Walker if he doesn't cost much and is healthy. If we can get 1 really solid year from him as our #2 WR opposite TO, that gives the team the extra offensive firepower we need in 08 yet still allows the development of whichever WR we draft to go on & he should come into his own in 09 & hopefully even be TO's successor down the road -- really like Hardy (another Randy Moss? or Thomas).

ABSOLUTELY.......NOT

It would be truly stupid to draft two players at the same position in round 1, no matter who they are....truly stupid.

These guys get a nice contract, even in the 20's, and a signing bonus....you don't draft two at the same position in round 1...it just makes no sense.

If you draft one in round 1, then maybe you draft another CB in round 2 if there's a first rounder who dropped...more likely you draft another CB in 3 or 4.

Sure, if we could get two out of the three of McKelvin, Jenkins, and DCR I'd do it in a heartbeat. Of course thats fantasy land so no I wouldn't take 2 CB's in the first.

ABSOLUTELY. If we can get 2 of the say top 5 CBs DO IT. WE need them - at least ONE NOW and its very possible BOTH of them depending on the health of Henry.

I wouldn't.

Maybe a corner and safety, but not two corners. It makes no sense especially since the Boys are woefully thin at rb, wr, and should be looking for an upgrade at nt and the offensive line.

If I'm so pretty, why am I available?

The only thing I don't like about this is that they both come up for a second contract at the same time.

I would. Newman will be 30 next year and a FA. Henry will be 31 next year. If we take a Cromartie at #22 and Cason is sitting there at #28 we have to take him. We have to prepare for the future. Sure I would love to sign Newman to a new contract but have anyone been paying attention to what these guys are getting nowadays. It will cost a grip to get him back here plus the fact he will be 30 yrs old. We have to be smart.

We could still get our RB in the 2nd rd. Rice, Choice, Chris Johnson(I hope).

We could still get our WR in the 3rd. Andre Caldwell, Eddie Royal, Donnie Avery or spend the cheese on a Jerry Porter or Stallworth.

Make no mistake in this thread I am a T.Newman fan but even if we sign him we will still need to draft 2 corners sometime in this draft, why not 2 of the best to give us leverage with Newman in contract talks next year?

I would not use 2 1st picks on CB, I agree we need to draft a CB maybe 2 on draft day but Dallas also has other areas of need that I would like to see as top prospects such as RB or WR being chosen. I think taking a CB in the 1st rd and within day 2 would be the better move.

Didn't realize Newman was approaching 31? Time flies I guess? Aren't athletes supposed to be hitting their prime in their late 20's early 30's? How many 1st round picks would that be in the past 10 years we have used on our underachieving defense? Seems like we should be better.

With this draft being sooo deep at corner, to me the best approach would be to draft one early and a project/gamble a little later in the draft.

Newman is 29, and he will be re-signed to a second contract just like Ware will be.

I would like to see one of the top two go to a CB this year if it isn't a reach, but it wouldn't shock me if they don't also spend a second or third on an additional corner, since Henry seems to always get injured.
