Would you have chosen this guy over Julius and Steven?

If BP didn't get Ware and the Cowboys didn't get incredibly lucky with Romo, I a lot of people would be calling Parcells time with the team unsuccessful.

A lot of people DO call Parcell's time with the team unsuccessful.

No. I have a friend that works in the Detroit AP and he told me that Jones, among many other Lions (including the beloved Roy Williams) has a horrible attitude. And I'm not talking about just being surly with coaches and not having a good work ethic, I'm talking about a locker room with players in heated feuds with each other. Since Marinelli took over it has been better.

I can see taking a good player that may not get along with the coaches from time to time. Even Parcells talked about a few talented players that where a major pain in the arse for him, but he kept them around because he knew they would be their to play come Sunday. But if your work ethic is poor and you're having feuds with teammates, I don't want you on the team.

Well if you are counting playoff success then it's hard to disagree with. But if you are counting turning the franchise in the right direction then he did a good job. He still got very lucky with Romo.

I wish KeJo :)D) the best, he showed some flashes of ability when he was healthy.

I agree. Also, wasn't it Sean Payton that really pushed for Romo to sign with Dallas as an undrafted free agent? I think we owe that one to Payton, and to Jerry for releasing Quincy Carter so Romo made the team in 2004. ;)

And to Parcells who was on board for Romo, too. Yes, he is Sean's boy but Payton was one of Parcells' boys. I'm sure Payton had to do more than say this kid is good, even to Parcells. Just saying that I do agree Sean should get the lion's share for Romo but Parcells was and had to be on board as well.

That's too bad if true, Rich. I still think Jones is a major talent and can play in this league.

And I believe Parcells thought Jones was talented and had him that group with JJ and Jackson.

I wanted Jackson more than anyone during that particular draft. I remember watching ESPN and Oregon State games and everyone talking about how Jackson produced even though he had one of the worst O Lines in the nation. I was shocked when we didnt draft him

A classic case of shoulda, coulda, woulda. JJ was a good player who may end up playing well in Seattle if used correctly. I don't see him being more than an above average RB who occ makes a big play and teases with plays that seem superduper.

A bust is someone who is out of the league and wasn't worth a crap the entire time he was here. JJ is so far away from bust that it makes that statement seem absurd.

Will always wonder what if BP had left JJ alone and just let him play like he did in the last part of 2004. Or if JJ had not bulked up too much and lost his balance edge. Just the way it goes. To me Jackson has to show that he is more then a one year wonder as well.

I thought that when we made the deal and traded down, passing on Jackson, that Parcells tried to move back up into the 1st round in an attempt to get Kevin Jones, but found no trading partner. I know I wanted Jackson first, but Kevin Jones was next if we couldn't get Jackson.

I'm skeptical of this since DET planned to send a scout to KJ's recent workout--before he cancelled it. He may have been a PITA, but that's not all that unusual on a bad team. If they're interested in possibly resigning him, it's a safe bet that the issue was his health.

I was so mad we passed on Jackson, I stopped watching the draft after we traded down.

I wanted Michael "the burner" Turner, his numbers just looked as good as all others.

I think we were hoping Tatum Bell fell to our 2nd round pick. And settled for JJ.

JJ was a better pick if that were true.

Luck is the residue of design.

That and a lot of cheating goes a long way toward success.....it is still unbelievable to me that they cheated for 8 years and never really paid for it. Won three superbowls but might not have won any if they had not been cheating...
