Would you rather watch a really good offense or a really good Defense?

So basically, Would you rather be the 1981 Chargers or the 1991 Eagles? I think I would take that 1991 Eagles team because they were so dominating on defense they could outscore teams with their defense alone.

Both the Buddy Ryan Eagles and the Don Coryell Chargers failed to even make it to a Super Bowl.

I have more appreciation for a defense that can consistently stop a good offense but I have to admit there is something sexy about a offense that can pound the ball up and down the field all day long without depending on the passing game too much. That 90's Cowboys Championship team was like that. The defenses knew what we were going to do, our O-line would sometimes even tell the defense where the run was going and just laugh at the defensemen because they knew there was absolutely nothing the defense could do about it. It demoralizes a defense to do that to them and that is what I enjoy most of all. It's a hell of a way to finish a game.

I appreciate defense more than offense from the X's and O's standpoint, and have traditionally liked watching dominant defenses like those old Ravens and Bucs teams. But I have to admit the dialing back on bigs hits and overall tricky tack calls aimed at the defensive side of the ball has taken away from the excitement of defensive football. Although I completely understand the need and agree with the league intervening for player health.

Nothing is worse than watching a bad offense though. When I lived in NY the Jets were in the middle of their decent run with Rex Ryan and while the defense was fun to watch and sent the house routinely after QBs, they had a terrible offense and was just absolutely frustrating to watch. You don't know agony until you see a defense play it's *** off for 4 quarters while the offense can only muster up a handful of 1st downs...

Football primarily is about scoring touchdowns so put me down for offense. QB and middle linebacker are my two favorite positions to play followed by pass rushing and defensive back. Oh I miss playing, thanks OP...

Give me the offense. "Defense wins championships" I just a phrase. If the score is 0-0 Who wins the game?

The offense in general is more fun to watch. Having two good sides of the ball is how you tend to go far in the playoffs, combined with some luck and favorable, or at least not unfavorable, officiating.

Broncos showed the world last year that can't just get by with a great defense.

You need balance. Both sides have to be decent and you need at least one factor that you're elite at...be it offense, defense, passing offense, rushing offense etc. unless you just get hot at the right time(Giants, Ravens etc.)

Dallas has a good offense, an elite rushing offense now we just need a solid defense...our defense doesn't have to be great but they need to be better to put us over the top.

So what happened when the broncos won the SB two years ago? Their offense was garbage then too

Defense for sure! Especially a defense that can get to the QB and cause turnovers. I love to watch a good 14-3 ball game.

Love a ferocious SS out there that just wrecks guys going over the middle. Guys like Brian Dawkins, Sean Taylor, Roy WIlliams 31 in his prime. Kam Chancellor is a pretty big hitter among the current players though I don't think he compares to those other guys. I also love to see a ball hawking FS, those guys are just as hard to find as franchise quarterbacks. Ed Reed is obviously the standard. Charles Woodson was good at it as a safety. I think Malik Hooker in this latest draft could be one of those guys. I watch a lot of BIG 10 ball and Hooker stood out to me every time I watched OSU. Thought I would draft him if I could before I ever heard of him becoming a top prospect in the draft. Its like having great hands at WR, you cant coach that ball hawking instinct, some guys just have a feel for it.

Denver was a middle of the pack offense in most categories in 2015 with a QB that was terrible, yes, but he still commanded the attention of opposing defenses.

Last season they're near the bottom of the pack in most categories.

LA Rams would be a better comparasion though. Their defense was among the most talented defenses in the league for the last 5 years and they were a very good unit at times as well...their offense left them hanging too much though to ever reach their potential.

Point is...you can't suck on either end of the ball. You need to have balance and you need to be elite at something or have some kind of game breaking player to set you apart.
