Would you trade a draft pick for RGIII?

Let me say this though, I remember when Peyton Manning was released, I wanted him right here in Dallas. Fans torched me, I believe he was in the Super Bowl last year. Our fans are genius, or naw.

Our O line would have retired him.lol

I wouldn't mind having him as a back up, but I wouldn't give up anything for him either.

There are too many teams with needs at QB for him to be a back up. He will be starting somewhere next season. He hasn't hit "Vince Young" levels of hopelessness yet, although that's right where he'd headed IMO.

I would, as long as its not high. He can be good. Just an awful situation in Washington.

LOL.

Yeah, Manning can't handle shoddy protection.

Whatever you have to say to convince yourself the team made a good decision. My stance is you sign Peyton Manning when you can.

With the O-line we have in place today? Absolutely.

With the O-line we had when he was available? LOL!

Peyton would have died.

Couldn't disagree more. What we have here is people who were wrong about Griffin coming out now acting like it's the situation in Washington that's led to this.

I think it's the fact he's a fraud as an NFL QB. Whether he's in Washington, New England, Green Bay or Dallas. He can't read defenses, he has no feel in the pocket, he's not accurate with the football and he lacks toughness. You smack him in the mouth and he plays like you smacked him in the mouth the rest of the game.

Complete fraud. One of the most overrated prospects to come out of the draft in the modern era. Here's a banquet of mid round picks. Please keep him off my team.

This sounds like the excuses the media often makes for Griffin's failures. Run-around QBs don't work in the NFL. It amazes me that scouts, coaches, GMs, and many fans haven't figured that out.

Which there is nothing wrong with that stance.

But an older QB, even as great as he is, coming off of serious neck problems, behind the line we had at the time?

I think people would be very unhappy with the move had we done it because there's a good chance behind what we had for an o-line it would have gotten him killed.

Sometimes I wonder if people realize just how awful our o-line was. I think they tend to forget how bad it was because Romo made so many people miss, and could move around so well, that it made them seem like they were not as bad as they are.

Peyton can't move around like that. He's not going to make a bunch of defenders miss. He's not going to spin out of crushing sacks. He would have needed to be able to slide in the pocket, step up, and do what he does. I just don't see him being able to do that behind the line he'd have come here behind.

Agreed.

100%

The arguments from Commanders fans, and even some other fans as well, that he was, and would be, better than Luck were hilarious.

Peyton Manning is the greatest at reading defenses at the line of scrimmage and adjusting. He's been the hardest QB to sack or even hit over his career not because he's always playing behind a great OL but because of his mind.

I think he would have excelled here or anywhere and made whatever line you had look infinitely better by his presence. As much as I love Romo, we're talking about the GOAT here. I'd have done whatever I needed to do to make that happen. It's a once in a lifetime chance.

Did any of you read/heard what Chris Cooley said about RGIII?
Here it is in short:
Cannot read a defense.
Has the "Yips".
Mechanically unsound.
Had to be given the basic playbook(the one QBs get after the draft) so he could pretty much hit the reset button.

He was grossly overrated coming out of Baylor.
He may have been super charismatic with a million dollar smile(endorser's dream).Six endorsements before he took his first NFL snap.
His commitment to greatness is questionable.

Do you guys not realize that on the off chance he actually became a success as a Dallas Cowboy he would cause the entire Commanders fanbase to go on suicide watch?! A draft pick is worth a chance at that glorious scenario no matter how unlikely it is!

A couple of years ago there were some arrogant feather wearing flitboys running around here smugly telling us Griffin and that offense was the future of the league. Where are they now?

There were even Cowboys fans here, many actually, that had QB envy. They were practically forming a line in anticipation for the RG4.

Heck, they were jealous of the Eagles last year. They had Nick Foles. We were stuck with Tony Romo. Ewww.

So true.

I've said it so many times but it always rings true. We have fans here who are so invested in their hatred of a particular player (Most often Romo) that they simply can not be bothered to be around when it's not going the way they really want it to. They'd rather Dallas not do well so that their hatred of whatever said player can be justified and true.

Not true for everyone. I never thought he would make it. He does have some talent. I don't think he was given the right situation in Washington.
There is one buffoon in the NFL in management that can stand right next to Jerry maybe even slightly above and that's Danny.
