Trade Bobby Carpenter and Anthony Spencer to Carolina for Julius Peppers? (Assuming, of course, that he would re-do his contract?)

No. Spencer has a longer career ahead of him, and I've seen what Peppers does when his heart isn't in something. Nothing. I don't want a one or two year fix impeding on the development of Spencer.

Thanks but no thanks.

If you stop and THINK about it, Peppers wants out of Carolina badly, and do you honestly think the Panthers are going to RENT Peppers for 1 season at almost $17 million? Name me one other team that has rented a player in the NFL for that kind of cheddar for only one year? Get real man, Peppers will not be in a Panther's uni next year unless he restructures his contract. The Panthers are looking to unload his cap number and him for a decent trade. They would be getting two starting-caliber players for one, especially a player who is already on record for stating that he wants out of Carolina.

If you can't post a sensible reply, then move on to another thread.

Are you kidding? I'd do that deal so fast my shorts would think we were pulling 8 Gs.

How old is Peppers?

Note to self: He'll be 30 in 6 months.

Ya, if Peppers contract wasn't a consideration, but it is and it's too big. Under NO circumstance will we aquire Peppers because of the money. We need to pay Ware 100 million, not Peppers.

I'd like to be John Holmes if the fool wasn't dead.

Does DeMarcus Ware already have his contract in place in your scenario? If not, hell no I don't make that trade.

I don't think its a good idea.

I don't care how good a player is, he's only as good as his cap number. There's only so much money to go around. When you trade for Peppers you assuming a huge cap number.

Of course any deal for him would include a longer term deal, but how long and how big?
The guy's got 17 mil coming to him for 2009. What's it gonna take to lock him up?
I'd have to think he'd take no less than 60 mil over 5 yrs. And how old is he now?

I'll admit the idea of him at strong side LB opposite Ware is scary. But trading for high priced players who don't fill a huge need is unsound cap strategy.

It only make sense when you're filling a big hole. Making Davis the highest paid OG made sense because he was just about the best player at that position and filled HUGE hole we had.

We'd be replacing a good looking 3rd yr guy with a lot of upside.

OMT- He's player 4-3 DE his whole career. We'd be asking him to make a serious position change. I think he could do it, but it does add risk to equation.

So basically, would I trade Anthony Spencer for Julius Peppers? ;)

Yes. We Cowboys fans are probably the only ones who wouldn't just laugh at the very question.
