Disagree and NE has disproven the theory that you have to pay everybody.

Not moving on from players is one of the main reasons for failure to balance and manage the cap.

Here's the fallacy with the cap going up and being able to afford to keep all those offensive players. The cap goes up for every team and so does the pay per position, so it is relative. A team still has to balance their cap and limit what they will pay per position. If you didn't have teams doing that, you wouldn't see high priced FA's on the street.

The secret to Belichick's success for so long is his adherence to his formula. He was willing to trade the GOAT QB to adhere to it. If he wiggles over it one year, he has the plan in place to wiggle back the next year,. as he did with Brandin Cooks. The other thing that separates him from the Cowboys is that he anticipates these challenges and acts before he can be acted upon.
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, now that could not have been said better!!!!!!!!

It still amazes me every time someone screams "Just pay him" w/o realizing that they are actually screaming that they're not interested in being in super bowl contention.

And also, we've already tried the route of paying a few guys huge contracts, and it was an abject failure.

The plan that must be followed to insure that a team can compete for a title was laid out by the Niners when they let Montana, Rice and Lott go. And they had Montana and Rice's replacements ready to step in. They had a plan.

My problem with the Cowboys is that they've never been forced into planning. There are no repercussions that affect the Jones family so they can just play it year to year.

And the dumbest thing they've done yet is this hang up on the years of the QB's contract. Who cares if you have to renegotiate in 4 years? Get another QB, that's what the other teams have had to do.

And laying it on your QB that you need to have enough to be able to pay players around him isn't his problem. It is their problem for overpaying Lawrence, Elliott and we don't know about Cooper yet. It's stupid and they show just how inept they are by blaming the employees for the salary expense.

Some posters here have no complaint because they've "paid the man", their man, too many times.

NE hasn’t had to pay everyone because they had Tom Brady. He made everyone better. The secret to Belichick’s success has been Tom Brady. We’ll see how Belichick’s formula works without Brady.

I wouldn't think thats a good idea, at least for this upcoming season. That being said, I'd be more willing to trade him for a player rather than a future pick.

You can revisit this after the 2020 season (if it happens)

The drafts already over. Are there really people out there who would trade him today for next years 2nd? lol Doesn't even make sense.

Trade a stud who still on a rookie deal. Yall gotta start thinking of things contractually. It does not makes sense. He has more value than a pick in 2021, RIGHT NOW!
