Micah vs San Fran or Micah vs the Jets defense?

Only idiots thought he wasn't. Manning had a quarterback mind. Even Stevie Wonder agrees.
At the time many questioned whether he was the best QB in the draft. The point is finding a true elite QB is very hard. There are more misses than hits

Its a tough one. If you do it you better be sure.

Can you imagine moving Parsons and then drafting a bust?

For instance if Carolina calls and offers us 1 or 2, would you offer Micah to climb up to get one of the top Qbs of this years draft?
In a NY minute! Parsons is a good player who has played far better than anyone could have expected, but he's hit his ceiling and has been exposed by both Arizona and the 9ers. Both of these club took him completely out of the game, he was nowhere to be found in those games. It's time to rebuild and JJ and his idiot sons should use every chip available to get to the top spot in the draft. Hopefully, with the schedule this lame duck club is facing their winning record will be in the low single digits and getting that trade partner who has the top pick might be easier to get if we have a high pick and throw in a Parsons to make the trade. This club desperately needs a quality QB because the scrub we have goes MIA in meaningful games...............

Many is relative. Among NFL brass? Fans?
Be that as it may, maybe I wasn't as obvious as I should have been. I used their names for a reason, i.e., it would take my confidence in that quarterback being one of them (Marino, Manning and Elway) for me to even think about that trade.
I wouldn't do it for any other reason, including the ones you offered.

P.S., Maybe I was too harsh with the "idiot" comment. My bad.

The OP is assuming a move that a creative FO would do.

We don't have such a thing. So many teams more than once put all their chips on the table and made serious trades to make a quick turnaround and reach and/or win a SB while our cancerous owner/GM enjoys taking pictures while in war room and act as if he is the smartest that ever been.....

Keep dreaming guys ... He is only 80 .. I know based on our luck, he has the genes to live 100.

Yes.
The problem is there are no guarantees, though Williams seems as much of a guarantee as you will ever see.
Problem is, is he Aikman, or is he Couch?
Another reason you do this, besides the obvious, is that Micah will soon need to be paid, and with a pick you'll have 5 years cost control.

Nope, naw, negatory, NEVER.....This team needs Micah and a true franchise QB on a rookie contract.

I'd trade Parsons for a pick that guarantees me Caleb. But.... unfortunately the Bears will have that pick....and they'll likely want him for themselves.

The only way you'd convince them to deal the pick would be to offer way more than just Parsons....and then remind them/ask them "do you REALLY want to do the whole rookie QB all over again?" and hope that they take Parsons plus a couple future 1sts in hopes of being relevant again quick.

A lot of dummies in here are saying "a rookie is only a 50/50 shot...I'd only trade Parsons for an established Top 5 QB".

How dumb. NOBODY is trading an established top 5 QB like Burrow, Hurts, Allen etc for Parsons or any non QB player no matter how many 1sts you throw in on top of it. In this league...you either have a great QB, or ur irrelevant....like we are.

Sure a rookie is a 50/50 shot. So what? Better to flip a coin with a chance for greatness....then just "keep on keeping on" with ZERO percent chance of greatness. 50% chance is way higher than 0. And even if you get unlucky (see Bears) then ur usually so bad that you can get a top QB again in a couple years and flip that coin again....just like they'll likely do this year.

That's better than just wasting a decade like we're doing.

Well that is a chance you have to take. When you have a generational talented QB in the draft. You get him.

Some years it’s obvious but most years not so much. Being in that one spot when a burrow or manning came out doesn’t have the risk it does most years. Lots of top picks have been complete busts and even more are avg. it’s a really tough position to draft though the financial risk is somewhat better with the rookie cap

Just depends on the grade your scouting department has on him. If it's franchise QB caliber you have to do it. You pay any price.
Yeah I agree that’s basically what I mean. You don’t draft a first round QB just to draft one.

It’s gotta be one the scouting department thinks is a franchise guy. And also that McCarthy signs off on as being a fit for his system.
