Would You Trade Tolbert?

I liked the player going into last year. And I still like the player. However, there's a lot of WR competition here, and I don't want to get caught up in the sunken cost fallacy. I get you drafted him for what he could be, but if you have better players right now. Especially if you have better players who are ready to play right now, and you need to trim the roster to 53, would you be willing to pull off a trade before it became apparent he was going to be cut anyway?

I kinda feel like a good place for Tolbert would be the Raiders.

For what? What are you going to get in return. A 6th round pick? Which are always question mark to begin with.

It's best to keep him

Huge kudos for your reference to the sunk-cost fallacy, but it's not the best way to look at this situation. The Cowboys won't be sinking more investment in keeping Tolbert...except coaching, which is a trivial cost.

Here, You will get mere pennies for your asset if you give up on him...if that...and might miss out if you fail to just show some patience and work in developing what you got.

I mean, but if they know he'll be cut...IDK.. Just seems like we at least have some competition at WR.

Hope.CD doesnt get hurt.

Hmmm… you spent a whole season developing a guy that you knew from the beginning was going to need a season of developing and are now going to trade him because you have a bunch of guys who are going to need a season of developing! Why not after spending a season teaching him how to run pro style routes take advantage of the 6’2 frame and 4.48 speed?

Buy high, sell low. That’s what we’d be doing. I just can’t see anyone willing to offer a future draft pick for a guy who didn’t even earn a part time role.

He is like an UDFA to me… and I get excited about some UDFAs… so I’m hopeful we will see something special with Tolbert in camp.

How would they know at this point? And there is no one beyond the starters that is above him on the depth chart.

I don't think he will be cut. They just spent a 3rd round pick for him. They kept Brown around longer.

And your #1 getting hurt goes for everyone. Outside of about three teams everyone is in the same boat.

Trade? He was just drafted last year and hasnt shown much on the field and is still in development

only way you can trade him is as part of a package deal....No ones offering even a 7th and thats not a knock on him but you cant straight up trade him

Oh this is the worst time to trade him. He’s lost value. What on earth would someone give you? A 7th?

Tolbert is why they didn’t draft a receiver. That tells me they still have faith in him. And he has time thanks to the Cooks acquisition. Just go out there and get on the field.

Why? Because he didn't produce last year?

He's cheap, it's his 2nd year. He can improve. Who even knows if there's an upgrade on the team.

Maybe if on cut day you feel he's a busy then you offload him , but definitely not now before camp ..it would be pretty stupid.

No team will trade for him. At least not now.
Now if injuries happen during TC, then there may be some remote interest. But you are not going to get much, but even a 6th round pick would be fine.
