He's not going to take a big pay cut for a lousy job. I think he'd be a far better oc than linehan right out of the box.

I say no. The man has suffered enough under Jerry and has done his time. Let him enjoy his cush job, family and play golf. He shouldn't have to suffer dealing with Jerry or Stephen any more than he has.
not to mention he has suffered this fan base enough too :) as a QB.

This started to naw at me watching this offense slide into the abyss.

Since Romo retired..

DAK has steadily regressed since his rookie year.

DAKOTA played so well with Romo mentoring him..

we have to consider Romo as a coach who might fix the offensive issues.

Now..

Would Tony consider leaving broadcasting to stay closer to his team?

I think yes.

Could he work with Garrett and avoid concerns with Jerrah?

I think yes.

Would Jerrah pay him double what CBS is paying him?

I think yes.

Jerrah would do anything to stop his team from more collapse.

Comments?
I'd take Romo as QB.

Romo is too pass happy. Not much he can do with this Oline problem anyway.

Your wrong about Jerry doing anything to stop the collapse. It's a business and his pockets are full. Most valuable team in professional sports. He doesn't care about winning. Its about making money

He has three young children he would miss growing up if he was a coach. 80 hours weeks get old real fast. He is a big fan favorite for most Dallas fans, that would change once he becomes a coach. Whenever the team struggles, he will blamed. And yes, he was blamed as a QB, but as a coach I think our expectation would be unrealistic.

Also, he would have to take the laughable course of Coach clapping, taught by Jason Garrett.

Romo did NOTHING with Dak his rookie year. If you look back at it, it was Sanchez that was in Dak's ear 99.9% of the time. Kellen Moore is worthless to Dak. If the org wanted to do something, they'd hire Sanchez as his QB coach....

They talked about this misconception the other day on squawking cowboys, it wasn't Romo at all who was mentoring Dak. It was Mark Sanchez. Somehow this revisionist history of Romo being the reason for Dak's 2016 success has become the narrative.

I just have trouble believing Mark Sanchez contributed to any success of a QB since he consistently demonstrated a clear lack of understanding of what successful QBs do. I'd bet you it was more likely that he was just Dak's PAL as someone who didn't represent competition in any way.

One thing I can promise you is Romo's words carry more weight than a guy who had defined the word SUBPAR with his career.

Why would a guy already worth $200 million working 30 hours a week for $5 million a year take an 80-hour per-week job making $500K?

How many former great NFL quarterbacks are offensive coordinators?

None.

Heck no. Romo played in a way that not many other than Favre could. Playing sandlot football isn’t something that can be taught. He audibled so much he wouldn’t know what it would mean for a QB to listen to him.

Remember when Peyton was out for the year with Indy and I think he helped game plan and may have even called plays after the record got so bad. The backup couldn’t translate what Peyton saw because like many math teachers it’s hard to communicate what comes naturally.

It's not about how he played it's about being able to predict and outscheme defenses. Romo did a lot of that towards the end of his career. Or did you think our coaches were doing that?

How many were as bad a QB as Mark Sanchez? You'd feel good about bringing him in and relying on his knowledge on how to beat a defense?

Football playing success may not be a requisite of the job but intelligence is.

In a heartbeat. I think if that offer ever came to Romo, he'd accept. He is too competitive of a guy to stay in the booth. He'd relish the opportunity to try and win an SB as a coach.

Do you think Joe Montana wanted to come back and mentor Steve Young?
Do you think Brett Favre wanted to come back and mentor Aaron Rodgers?
Do you think Mcnabb wanted to come back and mentor Kolb?
Do you think Brady will come back and mentor Garoppolo?
Do you think Flacco will stick around after retiring to mentor Lamar?

What do you think Romo would be doing right now if you didn't draft Dak, and his backup in 2016 sucked? Think about what Dak did to his career. No, I don't believe he wants to be in Dallas.

Who is Scott Linehan? Mike McCarthy? Sean Payton? Wade Wilson? Jon Gruden? And Reid?

Sanchez was a better quarterback than those jokers.
