He does have a pretty decent win loss record with playoff appearences in 98 and 99 with Buffalo, but no postseason wins. If Bill leaves, I would not be shocked to see Phillips back in Texas.

He wouldn't be my first choice, but I wouldn't hate it if he became our HC either.

I wouldn't be overly upset with that selection.

I can't get that playoff game out of my head where he started Rob Johnson over Flutie.

Even then, I wouldn't be against Philips...Belichick flopped in Cleveland and now look at him...maybe he just needs another chance

Exactly. In 1993 Belichick benched Bernie Kosar in favor of Vinny Testaverde. The Browns, playoff contenders that year flopped down the stretch as well, making Belichick very unpopular in Cleveland if I recall.

Yeah. If anything he's known for putting out really good , aggressive defenses.

He is the architect of San Diego’s 3-4 defense, and last season that defense led the NFL against the run, holding opponents to a mere 84.3 yards per game. Two years ago - Phillips’ first in San Diego - the Bolts were even stingier, allowing only 81.7 yards per game to rank third in the league. Phillips’ defense is centered around defensive tackle Jamal Williams, who was selected to play in his first-career Pro Bowl following the 2005 season.

One of the outstanding feats of Phillips’ defense in 2005 was holding three different opponents to less than 40 yards rushing: Oakland (39 yards), Philadelphia (24) and Indianapolis (24). That hadn’t happened in San Diego since 1965 and it was only the third time it occurred in team history.

The Bolts’ aggressive defense also cranked out 46 sacks last season, its most since 1992. The Chargers and Indianapolis tied for the fifth-most sacks in the league. Rookies Shawne Merriman and Luis Castillo combined for 13.5 sacks in 2005, the most by any rookie duo in the NFL.

What about Baltimore's DC...Ryan?

He was brutal here in Denver for those couple years. Well .500 or so.. seemed about the only thing he got right was throwing up his arms to signify a FG had been made at about the same time the refs did.

But all he was really doing in the first place was keeping the seat warm inbetween Reeves and Shanahan. Bowlen wanted Shanahan all along but he was with the Niners as OC at the time.. having success and prolly not wanting to be the guy that directly followed Reeves anyways.

1. I just realized both of the Chargers 2005 first round picks have been busted for Roids at some point (for some reason I was thinking Castillo was drafted in 2004).

2. The chargers had 61 sacks this season. That's absolutely insane. We got just a little more then half that number.

I'd take almost anyone over Parcells right now

we blew a golden opportunity this yr, and its because of how poorly coached the team was, especially defensively

As a head coach, Wade isn't the guy you want. But as a D-Coordinator I'd love to have him.

Which is exactly why he should be brought here as the DC

It is a bit unsettling.

He also mentioned Norv Turner.

For all of you campaigning for Coach Parcells' ousting, you might get either of these. Be careful what you wish for.
