Well he was the DC in Denver in '89 and they lead the league in PA.

Thats the good news.

The bad new is the Niners hung 55 on them in the SB. ;)

Of course the 89 Niners were so far aheadf of the rest of the league, so it was similar to our thrashing of the Bills a few years later.

read an article by Cowlishaw that Wade is a JJ favorite

Only as a DC and I am sure he would not leave SD with their personnel unless there is a change in their HC which has been rumored some.

Wade Phillips as the new DC? Not sure how he would mix with BP. I wouldn't complain if he was brought in.

Only as DC though. Hopefully we won't have to worry how he'd mix with Manboobs.

I completely agree. I can't see JJ hiring him as a HC at all.

If that's true, Jerry may want him as a HC, then it's just another prime example that this franchise needs a REAL general manager.

With that said Phillips as a DC, heck yeah. I can just see a shocked look on the face of D. Ware when Phillips says to him "kill the quarterback every play".:D

If Parcells leaves, Wade would be the perfect fit. Give him a 3 year deal with the first 2 guaranteed. If we don't win, we can axe him and go after Lovie Smith/Jeff Fisher/Bill Cowher in '08'. I'm sure Jerry would hate to hire Norv only to fire him in 1 year so he can get the big hire he really wants going into the new digs. He(Phillips) is the perfect guy just in case we flop next year. If we go to the NFC championship or beyond and it looks like has really has the team rolling, we can always keep the guy. Besides, if Tuna is canned, Wade would conduct another good 3-4 draft. Maybe even weed out some flops along the way?

I think if Parcells leaves, Jerry will want to target one of those big name guys in 08, so Wade makes perfect sense. Lets be real here. Jerry isn't going into a Billion dollar stadium with some nobody assistant like Rex Ryan. Jerry is 65 and his days of hiring nobodys to be HC are OVER. Only way a new 2007 coach sticks is if we really look tough at the end of 2007. Otherwise, look for one of those 3.
