The Giants are overrated. The way we played, a better team would have put the game out of reach by the end of the 3rd quarter. The Giants were basically begging us to stay in the game. How many times were they near the redzone only to choke on FG's or punt the ball.

Honestly, we were lucky to have only lost by 7 points. What's funny is that we lost due to our offense and not because small statured Aaron Glenn couldn't cover Plaxico Burress.

This was a very Dave Campo executed game. I can't believe you found anything impressive in todays loss.

I'll tell you what, Mick....anyone who blames this loss on Bledsoe is totally out in right field...he was one beaten up guy in the first half...he got mauled on a 3 step drop and even hit and tackled while trying to hand off on a run play....lol. Troy Aikman would have had trouble with that pass blocking today.

Yep.

Im telling you I thought we had signed Michael Strahan because he was in the backfield so much.

Bledsoe turns that suspect Giants' secondary into mush if he gets more protection and Sean Peyton and Bill Parcells get some more guts.

Eli played horrible and they still won. There is absolutely no moral victories in this game. None.
Wow....you think Eli and Bledsoe played horribly, but the defenses had nothing to do with it???

Eli was picking our bones when they gave him pass protection...he was sitting in there, moving around and making perfect passes...his poor plays came when we were actually pressuring him and making him get rid of it...funny how that works :)

That's just silly.....did Aaron Glenn throw the pass called "perfect" by Aikman?

Glenn gave Bledsoe the ball at the Giants' 7. If it wasn't for our defense, we wouldn't have scored more than 3. One good pass out of 39 attempts, 2 interceptions, and the inability to sustain any drives whatsoever doesn't impress me.

Agreed. They did everything they could to give that game away. I have to admit, I didnt even know their kicker missed that field goal until I walked to my vcr in another room to turn the recording of the game off and saw it.

I think overrated is based on the individual perception. But man, they should have beaten Seattle, and to me, Seattle is a very good team.

I look at the Giants, just like I look at the Cowboys. They can pretty much beat any team save for the Colts in the NFL and can be beaten by any of them as well.

The Giants are a good team in my book.

I disagree SArge, unless you cry over every loss.

Did our defense shut them out in the 2nd half? did we regroup, move the ball much better and put up 10 points in the 2nd half? Did we have a chance to tie the game throughout the 4th quarter?

We are what we are...anyone who is overly disappointed just wasn't realistic and actually thought we were a SB contender...that's what makes no sense at all considering the way our OL has played all season.

When was the last time you saw us down by 17 and totally manhandled and actually come back and make a game of it, Sarge? You've been a Cowboy fan a long time....but I'm sure you have to dip back a ways to find a game that began this way that didn't end up a blowout.

I was happy with the way our guys came back.

Me, cry over every loss? Perhaps you don't read this board as much as I had thought.

Who said ALL of us thought we were Superbowl contenders?

Plain and simple......we beat this team already this year - I had reasonable expectations of beating them again. We lost - I'm disappointed.

Yes......it was nice to see them make a game out of it - but it shouldn't have come to that........again, I'm disappointed.

How can one not be disappointed in a game for first place, especially knowing that you've already beaten the opposing team once already only weeks previously?

If one is not not disappointed on some level, then he or she tain't normal.

Wayne....our offense put up 3 whole points. The 7 came on a 7 yard drive! What exactly do you see in that to make you optimistic for the next 4 games?

:hammer:

I have no problem with being proud of the defense but the offensive display was just that. Yeah JJ put up 160 total yds but many came on the last drive, thru screen or short pass plays when the defense was expecting the long ball. Also I would have gladly taken a few yards less on his last 2 catches if he would have just gotten out of bounds. Yes a win was still a longshot but it would of at least given us a chance to attempt a strike or 2 to the endzone.

Overrated doesn't mean bad but it just means that they are considered better than they are. The Giants are a good team but are hyped. A good team would have put us away today and taken care of business.

I am not disappointed with the team overall. I am disappointed with the conservative play calling. (I know that will shock some of you). Also, I am disappointed that this team let the best kicking coach in the league go. I believe that if he still had Hoffman, we would have at least two more wins.

I believe we are playing about one notch above where I thought we would be at the beginning of camp. I also think we are on track to make a major impact next year, providing we shore up the O-Line.
can we stop blaming the conservative play calling? I think it's hard to open up the offense and get agressive when you have extremely inexperienced players playing at both Tackle positions, your Center is hit and miss, and quite frankly old Marco Rivera looks ready for a retirement home. Tough to get agressive with that mish mash up front. Parcells and Payton are doing what's necessary to get this game to the 4th quarter every week and put the game in the hands of the defense, the unquestioned strength of this team. Nothing wrong with that strategy...imho.
Blame mis-evaluating the OL talent, but not the playcalling.

I'm not that disappointed either, because it's just what I expected: An excellent defense and an offense that is too old and slow. And old and slow offenses don't get better as the year wears on.

I expect more games like this down the stretch, where we put all the pressure on our D. Against poorer teams, our O will be just good enough to win. Against the better teams, it won't be enough.

I guess the bright side is that at least we seem to have one side of the ball fixed. Next year, maybe we can fix the other.

This team has a lot of heart and I am proud of what they did today. Frankly, we did better than I expected defensively holding the Giants to 10 offensive points and generating two huge TOs. The offensive game played out as I expected - unable to run the ball and unable to pass protect.

The downfall of this team is the OL - it is unfortunate that BP has not been able to better here. He really *** up by not bringing in a better OL coach and further *** up in his talent evaluation (Rivera, Al J, Peterman, Rogers). I really think a new OL coach needs to be brought in and this house has to be swept clean. The only player who I would welcome back in the starting lineup next year is Flo.

Amen.
BP has done an impressive job fixing the defense and drafting nice RBs but the work with the o-line will be his undoing if he doesn't get it fixed next year.
I was not a great Parcells follower over the years but I assumed he knew o-line talent better than he has shown.
I could excuse his decision on Rivera because he was part of a very good line in GB and had a great reputation. I don't think anyone thought he wouldn't pan out.
But BP has really drafted some clunkers. You'd of thought he would of hit on at least one guy that would be looking like a future star but I don't see it.

The problem is that it's just not that easy. Nearly every team struggles with their O-line and good o-line coaches are hard to find.

Am I the only person not all that disappointed by the game today?

I said in a morning post that we were the underdogs.

OL...Giants win hands down...these guys have protected Manning well all season, while we did get pretty good pressure on him at times today.

RB...Tiki gets the nod due to his OL and experience.

WR...Toomer and Burress don't take a back seat to Glenn and Keyshaun...close call.

TE...Shockey leads the league in TDs and has been huge lately...we love Witten, but Shockey turns in more big plays down field because he's more athletic, not to mention we currently need our guy to block.

QB...I'll take Bledsoe's experience and accuracy, but Eli is much more mobile.

I'll take their DL and LBs over ours...we love our youth, but Strayhan and his unspellable partner are the real deal...their front 7 is very tough.

DB....we win this one, and it showed today.

We didn't just lose the first half...we got our butts whipped as badly as you can get it whipped in the NFL and we were lucky to be down 10-0 instead of 21-0.

But fellas...we turned that huge disasterous mess around in the 2nd half, despite the worst start to a 3rd quarter anyone could ever describe, finding ourselves down 17-0...it looked like the whuppin was on.

I'm sooo proud of how our offense and defense responded. The defense pitched a shutout in the 2nd half...that's darned impressive with all the weapons the G-men have, not to mention some pretty nice field position. Aaron Glenn's int's were awesome, and we had another one overturned on penalty.

The offense got untracked...look at the offensive yardage...almost all of it came in the 2nd half fellas, against a defense that had a perfect game plan and execution in the first half. We came back, made a game of it, and had our chances to tie the game.

We're playing a late round afterthought at RT who was never supposed to start...a LT who was an undrafted FA whom everyone wanted cut in camp, and we found a way to protect Bledsoe in the 2nd half...Bledsoe had one of his less accurate passing days, exhibited the yipps a few times, but got us back in the game with gritty play after being hit almost every play in the first half. We found a way to pass protect, we made plays, we moved the ball, and we made a game of it in NY after dropping back 17-0 on the road.

I understand everyone's disappointment...I'm sure the players feel awful, but this is a tough bunch of guys who keep fighting. I think today's game and the way we came back to compete is something to build upon...I can assure you the Giants were plenty worried with 12 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

If I have any sour taste in my mouth after the first half of football, it's that 3rd and 1 pass Parcells let Peyton call. We had the Giants on their heels with turnovers, 10 points, and a bit of running and passing...their defense had been on the field quite a bit...we'd converted in short yardage previously with Barber....so on 3rd and 1, we suddenly drop back and heave it downfield, have to punt and get screwed by McBriar's shank with the wind at his back.

BP may have been yelling at McBriar, but that was the worst call of the game, imo...we had em on the ropes...that was not the time to gamble on 3rd and 1, imo.

Overall, while I hate the loss, I love the way our team battled back on offense and defense...this one could have been a blowout otherwise. Other than the freak TD we gave their defense, they won the first half 10-0, and we won the 2nd half 10-0. It's tough to win on the road against a quality team, but we turned a disasterous blowout into an exciting finish.

For some reason i am not that dissapointed, a NYG loss next week and us winning, puts us back at the top. I have a real good feeling about the KC game, for some reason i just dont see us losing 3 in a row. We will take the KC game at home, and be 8-5, also we will beat WSH then be 9-5. Then we head to CAR and we will be 9-6, then we beat STL and get to 10-6 and the playoffs. For some reason i have a good feeling that this is a season changing game. We will turn it around, and win 3 of our last , thats 10-6!!!!!!

Houck was available this past offseason - if BP wanted to make him the highest paid assistant in the league and JJ sweet talked him he may have come back - you never know. But giving the job to the unproven Sprano was a mistake.

I don't think the team could handle 3 losses in a row at this point in the season. Let's hope we don't have to find out.

Every team regrets passing up Houck. In Phoenix, the local sports talk guys criticize Denny Green for not trying to sign Houck. So if the Cardinals are talking about him, I bet several other teams are doing the same.

True but he has lived in Dallas before and worked under Jerry - there was a relationship there. I think BP wanted his guy (Sprano) and didn't look outside the organization. It has been shown that this was a mistake - this OL is not well coached.

I didn't expect them to win this game and I am not upset, only mildly disappointed because they hung in there and could have won or forced an overtime witha few different bounces of the ball, etc. Let's face it, they're banged up and still not being blown out - last year they would have given up. Next year they will be stronger and will be a force to be reckoned with.

If this team had been healthy it would have beaten the Giants, and Denver, too. This year they'll probably make the playoffs, next year they will become dominant, depending on injuries. Those who are still standing are playing better than Cowboy teams have in almost a decade.
