Reading JJT's article on DMN and this snip really and truly jumped off the page at me:

--------While Phillips is never going to be an in-your-face coach, he has become tougher.

He changed some fines from $100 to a game check for transgressions such as missing bed check. Players in the NFL don't care about losing $100, but none of them wants to lose a six-digit game check.

He said he was going to be a tougher coach. Many a member thought it a joke that he fined players $100 and attributed it to Jerry saying you couldn't fine more than that hence Wade was a Jerry puppet.

Now it turns out that Wade has sacked up and told players how the cow eats the cabbage. Screw up bad enough? Lose a massive chunk of change.

I've respected Wade since he's walked in the door in no small part because I've despised Parcells from the day Bledsoe started a game as a Dallas Cowboy quarterback. Now my respect for him has been taken up a notch where there aren't many more notches to be taken up.

Fining game checks. Huge huevos to do that. Gargantuan.

I read that and the first thing I thought was I don't think you can fine anyone that much for stuff like that. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I wonder. There might be a limit to the fine, but your intention to fine an amount might be filed with the NFL prior to the start of the regular season.

Jerry's decision to clean house of the bad eggs -- That was the big step.

I doubt he's ever had to fine anyone for that, the number probably scared them into bed on time. Which one of the guys on our roster would really miss something that simple anyway now that the bad eggs are gone?

Way too big of a fine. I would file a grieveance with the Players' Union.

How about you just follow the rules and be in bed on time?

Pretty simple, huh?

I'm pretty sure the only way anybody's getting a game check from a player is from a suspension.

Hamilin needs to be fined something. 3 personal fouls last night, inexcusable. Penalties need to be addressed before next week.

I absolutely hate penalties. But after the stiff arm two yards out of bounds, I don't blame Hamlin one bit for his second one, not one bit.
He was sending a very clear message.

I wonder if he is even allowed to fine that much according to NFL rules.

I doubt it.

A game check is a very big deal. For missing Bed Check? This is questionable.

:lmao: people blasted Wade for being Coach Cupcake, then we hear about super-stiff fines and everyone's backpedaling like Mike Jenkins.

I was all in favor of that hockey-check he threw into Celek. We'll give you 15 yards, you earned it, but the middle of the field belongs to Mr. Ken Hamlin.
