:lmao: people blasted Wade for being Coach Cupcake, then we hear about super-stiff fines and everyone's backpedaling like Mike Jenkins.

We actually haven't heard of any actual super stiff fines, just the possibility thereof.

There is a limit set forth for the amount a player can be fined that was agreed to by the both the NFL and the players union (sans suspension). It isn't anywhere near a game check.

You can't fine player X $20,000 and player Y $187,000 for the exact same offense.

JJT is talking out his ***.

I absolutely hate penalties. But after the stiff arm two yards out of bounds, I don't blame Hamlin one bit for his second one, not one bit.
He was sending a very clear message.

Yeah, that he was pissed off at Maclin. As much as a lot of people here want to call it Hamlin setting a tone, or sending a message. It also sent the message that Maclin got in Hamlin's head. After the late hit penalty on Hamlin, I would have benched for the rest of the series. We weren't playing Hamlin vs Maclin, we were playing Cowboys vs Eagles. I would have put Ball in for the rest of the series and told Hamlin to get his head IN THE GAME, and don't worry about what Maclin does. Hamlin had the opportunity to push the Eagles back 15 yards by just walking away. He was in Maclin's head, there was no need to retaliate. I'd rather have an opposing player act out because they are losing then to prove to them I won't take a late hit. Take the late hit, get the flag, and clap all the way back to the huddle, knowing that your lack of retaliation is pushing them back 15 yards.

Not Wade, he is too soft. The media perception is real. I even heard a rumor that he picks up dry cleaning and run errands for his players, good ole Wade.

I don't know if the story is completely accurate or not I do think Wade deals with the players face to face not in the media. All this soft touch, cupcakes and other derogatory claims is nothing but people own perception. Wade is a low key guy in front of the media so what. Even as a DC for years you command respect from your players and you deal with them when they are not living up to your expectation however there is nothing wrong with dealing one on one instead of using the media to get a message across

It is virtually impossible for Wade to not be a tough son of a gun. The man played LB and his defenses are some of the most physical, aggressive, and nasty in the NFL. This has been true everywhere he had gone. He definitely carries a big stick and his players love and respect him, that is all I need to know.

I agree. He has been dealing with players for 40 years, Wade is not a pushover. He may not rant and rave but whoever said that is how you get a message across to a player? To me the how is not as important as the fact the message was sent and responded to. I think people get some of these falsehoods in their heads and refuse to look at him any other way.

Heck this past training camp the Cowboys held more 2 a days than they have in a good while including the years under BP.

This always gets swept under the rug when the media go in on their camp cupcake crap.

As far as I could tell Hamlin never touched Mac. I'm not one to blame refs or pick on them. With that said, the official that threw the flag on Mac should have expected some jawing from Hamlin or any one else who was the recipient
of that cheap shot. That was very ticky tacky of that official.

Was either of those penalties a good idea? Of course not. Do you think Phillips or any other coach really blamed Hamlin? I don't.

IMOP Hamlin let the Eagles know they weren't going to take their cheap shots like the one on Romo a week earlier.

I say good on him.

I wouldn't have thrown a flag on that, but they did. When you have a team down like we did, that team will get frustrated. At that point, you need to know that, and let them bury themselves. Let them throw the first AND only punch, and let them put themselves out of the game. But I think that the late hit was because it was Maclin, and at that point I would have seen enough of it to stop it. And if you don't bench him for the series, you at least call a timeout and get everyone re-focused on stopping them from scoring. If you want to set a tone for the game, you don't do it in the second half. You do it on the first series of the game.
