Screamin' A is way more obnoxious and annoying than Bayless...ya, I said it. He is by far the most annoying person on the radio & TV.

Three way tie between Screamin, Skippy and Rome

EPIC....rack 'em.....OUT

Part of Steven A's "Shtict" centers around contrarianism and he often says things most white people and the mostly white media don't agree with. Although his audience has obviously shrunk, he still gives a voice to a lot of people who would otherwise have their opinions minimized. Saying he has a "ghetto" appeal is stupid and racist and I'd suggest that person look up the original meaning of the word.

He is only good at interviews, but saying he is "ghetto" is more ignorant than anything Screaming A has done

There is nothing racist about saying he uses ghetto appeal. I grew up in the ghetto. Ghetto isn't race specific, that your stereotypical ignorance on display. I WAS the minority where I went to school and I was the one being discriminated against. I was one of those guys that decided I didn't want to live like that and moved the hell out.

Well said!!! I'm suprised the MODS allowed this to go on. They do a very good job of policing this joint..

Anything by DMX.

Speaking of DMX. I was driving down the west side highway (Manhattan) I guess it was last year, maybe the year before and that nutjob came up behind me in his Dodge Magnum and started riding his horn. I was already beyond the speed limit, and when he came up on me he had to be doing at least 90mph.

^I would say he appeals to BLACK people, not "the ghetto". I used to like Steven A but he has gotten a little tired lately.

So... Did anyone hear the interview?

Yeah smith asked him about the 6-1 start. Wade said he was happy, but knows they still have along way to go.

Asked him about T.O........ Wde said he's making a great contribution along with Romo and Bradie James is coming thru on defense.

Wade said sometimes coaches get to much of the credit and too much blame as well, he said it was all about the players.

Smith asked him about the Giants and the rest of the division. Phillps said he knew the division would be tough going in and that it will probably go down to the wire.

Good post. However, I disagree with your assesment that he gives a voice to a lot of people. Who are these people? Your statement sounds more like a typical grad student response to a question concerning Gramscian theory as it is applied to the masses.

..and what voice is he giving them? He isn't making a political or cultural empowered statement he is discussing what happen in a basketball game.

He uses a english dialect that primarly developed in American ghettos to connect with the groups that use it. This Ghetto dialect has become a fad with others outside the American slums as you can see in the music world with people like Vanilla Ice coming out of Carollton and in American suburbia in general.

As he stated though, it's Stephen A. Smith's schtich, but nothing more.

just reduces his appeal to a larger audience. I frankly doubt that all that many rap/gangsta/whatever types even LISTEN to ESPN.

I didn't say anything about him being ghetto or having black appeal. I'm talking about the fact that everytime he gets brought in on a discussion, he's always gotta act like he is personally insulted by the topic.

I don't get the whole "I'm a professional that trys to act ghetto" deal. I'm guessing ESPN hired him for the ghetto audience, but it's not working because he is losing all of his airtime. As far as I know at this time, his radio show and is all he has and that has shrunk to only a one hour show. (from 3 till 4PM) I don't even see him having a column on ESPN's NBA page anymore.

Lets watch some Stephen A. Smith at the 2006 NBA draft. :laugh2: (it's over 7 minutes, I couldn't bare to watch it all)

The ghetto audience is white men 18-35.

Check gangster rap album sales demographics and you will see many of young white adults buying these albums to fulfill their missing testosterone.

Thus entering the airwaves is Stephen is A idiot Smith.

What a grand country!

never reallly cared for Steven A, but I do like his 1 hour show. I'm a Ticket P1 to the fullest but i've found myself flipping over to Steven A at 2pm. Yes, i'm a black man. Newy was on 103.3 the other day and said that Steven's "Screaming Act" is not an act. He said he has been the same way the couple times that he's met him.

My point is if you listen to sports talk radio, as I'm sure most of you do, callers are often interrupted or hung-up on if what they say isn't in agreement with the hosts opinion. And we all know the discussion of sports reaches into the realms of politics (Guliani the Yankee/Red Sox fan), social issues (Vick's dogfighting case) and racial issues (The Rooney Rule). He's giving a "voice" to those who typically would be "cut-off" and allowing them to speak.
