We had one timeout and we used it after the next play. Garrett bumbled it plain as day.

Come on man, that's just not reality.

Directly from the box score play-by-play:
  • 2nd and 7 at NYG 45
    (3:00 - 4th) (Shotgun) R.Jennings left guard to DAL 46 for 9 yards (B.Church)

  • (2:54 - 4th) Timeout #3 by DAL at 02:54.

Ok, well then that settles that. I got that wrong.

I'm Cole Beasley's biggest fan Obviously, But he can't drop that pass in the Red Zone. He needed to help out his rookie QB there. I have no idea why they had him running downfield with that play where he had to jump up with a couple of defensive backs. Dez should be the one running that route. That made zero sense. Get the 88 involved. Throw him the slant. He's your playmaker. Run a couple of sweeps with Lucky. Let Brice Butler run down the field and throw him the bomb. Pretty frustrating to watch

Forgot about Lucky. Did we even use him on offense? He's the type of player a young QB needs from time to time. Yeah, frustrating.

I think I seen him a couple of times. Exactly. We just have watched too much of this garbage when Romo is not playing. The same dink and dunk crap we seen last year. Why even draft Prescott? Just keep Weeden if this how you're going to call the games.

Here are some examples of why the play calling sucked, beyond the fact that we went Air Coryell in the second half.

1. Almost all our runs were between the tackles, where the Giants had a stacked box. Did they forget the stretch runs that Zeke made against Seattle, a better, faster defense than the Giants, where he outran the defense to the sideline before cutting up? No excuse for not trying more than about 3-4 outside runs.

2. Not calling a single slant. Look at Dak's college highlights, he was exceptional throwing the slant. Butler and Bryant have bodies built for running the slant and wouldn't you rather take your chances with one of them catching a ball over the middle and being able to get some YAC in comparison to Witten?

3. Second half, when we went all Coryell, we stopped putting Dak on the edge, basically reducing him a drop back passer, which is not his biggest strength.

4. Not sure why there weren't more spread plays called and some where it was a designed Dak run. I believe the one designed run he got plus yardage.

5. Not getting Dunbar into the middle of the field, or Elliott for that matter. We attempted one screen to a RB all day.

Jameis Winston with his gaggle of receivers threw for 4 TDs yesterday. Let that sink in for a minute.

He was playing one of the worst defenses in the league.

His weapons are not bad. Mike Evans is a stud. Jackson is still a quality receiver, better than any of our receivers not named Dez. Martin is a good RB. Winston was also a first round pick, top QB in the draft and is in his second year. I believe last year in his first game didn't he throw like 5 interceptions?

Dak's passes were high on a few of those throws, not just for Beasley, but for most receivers 6 feet and under. It's an adjustment Dak will have to make, but it's clear he's comfortable throwing to Beasley otherwise.
Sorry but I don't agree with this. He got both hands (and not just fingertips) on the ball. He just dropped them...period. Dez just didn't hang on to two passes, one being a touchdown, that we would have caught previously. They will get it together.

Beasley's drop was a buzzkill. To score a TD on the opening drive in Dak's debut would've been awesome. It's the reason we chose to receive the ball when we won the toss. It wasn't necessarily the difference in the game, but it sure would've been sweet.

I counted easily 5 dropped passes yesterday, two of which should have been TDs (Beasley and Dez). The bone head move at the end was just another way the WR let Dak down. Pathetic all the way around.

The play calling again killed us. We gave up on the run early in the fourth and allowed NY to get great field position on the final drive. We cannot double another teams TOP and be behind. Unacceptable. Yes Zeke got bottled up but Morris was looking great.

And let's not forget the human turnstile Doug Free. I have never liked him and he was the weak link in the line yesterday.

Overall, we let another game we should have won get away from us. Same as last year.

Agreed... play calling was too simple and predictable like our past years... 2nd half was identical to 1st half again... yes our running game sucked but what the hell? Our WR's were unfocused and terrible.. it just shows how much Romo means to us..

probably an unpopular opinion, but I think we need a Y receiver with more size. Beasley is too small of a target.
you know..

Beasley has dropped a number of big catches lately..

he's another in a long line of manufactured WRs this team has created..

Crayton, Hurd, Robinson, T Williams...

guys they say are complementary WRs because they have overpaid Dez...

Or TO before Dez..

or Roy Williams before Dez..

We gamble at the position trying to make it Romo-Friendly..

but Romo has been absent for going on 2 seasons.

Now what?.

I'm not sure what you disagree with...

The most overrated aspect of this team is the pass catchers on this team. And I'm the most guilty in overrating them.

Witten is a relic. He's stat padding at this point.

Beasley specifically gets open because he is small and quick and no one can cover him. Then you have the tall Witten underneath as well. They are a perfect compliment to one another.

Beasley is the only guy we have who can easily defeat man coverage with route running. A young QB like Dak sees that and will much rather go there than a tough contested throw to Dez way down field. And just like the QBs last year, they basically give up on TWILL altogether.

As far as Dez goes, if all they're going to do with him is run him on stutter-go and fly paterns 70% of the time, they simply blew a load of money. I'm a huuuge Dez fan. But either he's being poorly coached and used or the issue is he can't run smooth crisp routes. I don't know. But it should not be this difficult to get your superior athlete the ball.
