I didnt bold anyone from 2006 or last yr because its still very early to judge, but the bolded players otherwise are guys that turned into good to very good players, and thats 12 out of 40 from 98-05...Players in italics were out and out busts, and there were 18 of those...the other 10 guys were middle of the road average players

Big names starring out at us or not, I still prefer the odds in the Top 10. And with 2 picks we can muster a Top 10. Doesn't even matter if it's McFadden or not, lets get a top 10 since we can. That's what I say.

I wouldn't even be against us using some more of our lower round picks to parley both of those 20 something picks up into 2 Top 20 picks. Odds are even better there, too.

Sitting pat though, we're looking at atleast one bust in the bunch, imo. Which just doesn't make sense when we don't have to sit pat...or atleast it doesn't make sense to me.

Do we want 2x Demarcus Wares or, do we want 2x Marcus Spears or another Bobby Carpenter? That's the question.

Good info. I think it is fortuitous that we have needs at RB and CB in a year when the Draft seems to be deep at both.

To take that a step further, the positions we draft at 22 and 28 should be followed up with drafting another player at the same position on day 2. Especially at RB and CB.

Great info on this David.

I agree. When you look at the draft classes you'll see each year is stronger or weaker at various positions.

Our needs should be met in this draft and in a deep draft trading up becomes less of a good move based on percentages.

Good info... and like someone else pointed out, Joseph Addai at 30 was a STEAL... in capital letters.

That is what they will say when we take Chris Johnson or Rice with one of our 1st round picks.:D

Good stuff dbair!

Can't say that I agree with all of the Bolds and Italics, but intriguing stuff nonetheless.

Fans in the forums claim every draft is a deep draft, this one is no different.

Trading up for a higher rated prospect is a surer way to getting a quality to excellent player, and the numbers arnt even close really.

We dont have many (if any) real holes...standing pat or trading down IMO repeats the mistakes of the middle 90's, had we traded up for better players then we might not have fell off the table so fast after 1995.
