WR Charles Rogers has a good shot to be cut

If he gets cut, bring him in for a workout or sign him cheap sight unseen. We have a little extra cap space, so maybe even give him a small bonus.

Couldn't hurt. Might catch lightening in a bottle. But I wouldn't count on him for anything.

I have read that there is a substancial cap penalty to cutting Williams.

I'd figure it would be something like 8 million-ish

I'm positive that if we bring in someone it won't be a guy within 1 strike of a year long suspension

That is the problem with him. He snorts lightening in a bottle.

Isn't he a pothead and injury prone?

Er, I don't think Parcells will have what he's smoking. ;)

Even wastes like Joey Harrington got moved via trade.
See I don't understand this. Everyone dumps on him because he had all this talent around him but didn't do anything, but all this supposed talent is on the verge of being released by all reports. So how bad is he really? On top of that Detroit might be the one team in the NFL who's oline is worse than ours. I think with legit talent around him, Harrington might actually be pretty good. Just my 2 cents on the matter. :)

I think the speculation has been around for months concerning Rogers and Williams. King said he was "positive". Sorry, I don't put that much faith in the things he writes, especially when he predicts things. When Rogers gets cut, I'll believe it. Things would have to be very bad for that to happen. Even wastes like Joey Harrington got moved via trade. Unless Rogers has failed another drug test and nobody knows about it, I don't see them cutting him outright. They would take a conditional pick or something.

It speeds up the entire cap hit to this season if they trade him outright. That basically makes it undoable. However if they cut him, they put off the major part of the hit until next year.

Actually I've read several blurbs about both his and Mike Williams spots on the roster is shaky.

His one strike away from a suspension does kinda put up a red flag.

Oh Lord, if they cut Mike Williams, this board will never hear the end of it...

If a WR of any talent gets cut the 1st team to call is gonna be philthy.....

Well, that could be...if the receiver wants a LOW PAYING job!

If he wants the BIG MONEY...he will hook up with the Midget.

If he wants to go to a REAL team, the Cowboys MIGHT look at him...!

I couldn't think of a move I'd rather make. We don't really need him, but he could help us fill a long term need. His place on our team (4th 5th wideout) could humble him, after already being humbled by being cut.
This guy is a player, there is just no doubt in my mind.

If he isn't dependable.....what would be the reason for signing him? Talented yes, competitive yes, but those traits do us no good if he serving a suspension for drugs.

Same thing with Antoino Bryant...talent, competitive...

Same thing with Krankcase...drugs...

I'm glad the Cowboys are just trying to get good players, good citizens...even at the expense of talent...

You can be a mediocre athlete, but if you are dependable you are better then the remarkable athlete who isn't...

exactly......If we have any doubt the player may not be there when we need him....it's an exercise in futility.

People can change and mature. I assume he would have to pass thru the wire if cut so I don't see a chance in getting him with 17 teams ahead of us. That's if I'm right about waivers.

Would whoever acquired him in a trade not have to take on his cap consequences? If so why take a chance on someone one strike away from being suspended for a year.

You would have to take on his base salary, but the Lions would absord the rest of his bonus

He was on the chopping block last year also. I can't see him ever having much of a career. Some guys just don't work out.
