WR Christian Kirk traded to Texans for 7th round pick

I’d puke if we were paying Kirk almost 17 million this year and having to resign him or it’s a one year contract. It’s not about the draft capital at all. It’s all about who is willing to pay that much for a so so slot receiver.

With what we are paying Lamb, give me McMillan or Egbuka on a rookie contract with a low cost vet as #3.

This would have been a deal I would have liked to see the cowboys get in on. Kirk is pretty under valued IMO and even if a little over paid a 1 year deal doesn’t kill your cap. He’s also a guy that sort of fits that inside out approach shotty has talked about in having shorter splits.

I get that but does that really scare someone? Especially the Texans who had what I thought was a deep receiver room.
I bet the appealing part for Houston is getting a guy like Kirk without having to commit to multiple years. Tank Dell is out for the year so this is a 1 year replacement until he hopefully recovers.

Not upset over this one.

They need DL help. Put the money there.

But watch and see if they think that they have already addressed that.

Mazi emergence, Sam returning at a high level (although he never got there in the first place), big money to Osa. Yep, solved. Maybe throw one of those comp picks at a fat guy who won’t see the field.

Y’all know I’m right. Well except for like 3-4 four of you.
They need offensive firepower as much as they need anything.

Dowdle, Tolbert, Ferguson. These guys are marginal players and they started for us.

JAX traded Kirk within the division too, they seriously wanted to get off that money. New Coaching staff, so teams should be calling to see who they want to get rid of. Kirk landed on his feet with Stroud.

Those guys will cost a first round pick. Can the Cowboys afford to use a first round pick on a wide receiver? No. Houston is trying to maximize the period of time their young QB is on a rookie deal. They're thinking Super Bowl. The Dallas Cowboys only have to make moves that insure they don’t get passed by the New York Giants.

Two NFL teams in the same state, but with completely different perspectives.

My guess ........ maybe their research suggested he was going to have a strong market. A bidding war on the open market would have cost them more vs getting him for 1 year ( only 7th rounder ) and deciding later if he's worth a long-term extension. I can see the advantages of only a 7th rounder. Not to mention, it appears Dells will miss all of 2025.
Truth

I think its telling that it only needed a next years seventh to get him.

no one else was willing to pay that much for one year.

Don’t at all disagree, but even the GB debacle aside, the NO, Bal and Det games last year when they got absolutely smashed on the ground is just painful.

Can’t expect them to actually recognize and fix it all (or any of it actually) so I’d side with front seven being first.

Mazi hasn’t even come close to performing up to his draft status;
Sam Williams might have potential, but is too stupid to stay out of trouble off the field and is now coming off IR with post ACL repair;
Osa got paid…so hopefully he plays up to his contract, which remains to be seen.
Yeah…this DL is top-shelf.

Houston overpaying for him. Unless he agrees to redo his deal. 17 mil for what, a year or whatever? For a slot guy? Holy heck. If we would have done this we would be having a fit right now. Houston must be having wr issues. This looks desperate.

When you trade a guy within your own division it speaks volumes
Either the jags are dumping salary desperately and don't care where he went, or they know he's washed. The third option is, it's the jags and they are poorly run.
