WR Christian Kirk traded to Texans for 7th round pick

In before the onslaught of why didn’t Jerry do this.

Well, actually, why didn’t he.
Hmmm… his base pay is 15m next year. He had fewer receptions and less yardage than Tolbert?
Would you want Tolbert if his cap hit was 15m! He’s a declining player who never reached his potential and that’s before you get into his drop issues!

WR is not a position of need. Gotta build inside out on both sides of the ball for the next QB.
Just because we have several positions of need does not mean WR is not one.

Cooks is a free agent and was in decline anyway. Next up for the No. 2 spot is Tolbert/Mingo/Flournoy/Turpin. No sure bet among them. We need a legitimate threat opposite of Lamb.

Not saying Kirk is the receiver we needed to go get, but we need to go get one. We could wait until the draft, but that takes more resources away from building inside-out.

a fundamental rule of football is you build from your lines upwards

its just like building a house. You do not start on the roof first.

we all saw the best QB in football made almost irrelevant in the Last Super Bowl because he had no offensive line to protect him.

Those wanting serious draft or cap resources used on WRs clearly do not get it

It is like getting a top CB but having no pass rush

no point in getting a top WR if you do not have the QB to throw it to him.

Our D line has been putrid for some years and the first rd pick used on it is looking very doubtful he will ever be worth it.

It thinned out fast.

Stefon Diggs is a free agent (and got injured) and Tank Dell suffered a significant knee injury very late in the season.
Yeah I didn’t realize he may miss time next season too that’s why they are pressing for a receiver. I still don’t get why him at that salary but it makes sense there’s a need.

That’s a big part of the problem. Jerry loves his corners.

The argument can easily be made that Brady and Mahomes are the best two QBs of all time, but NEs two SB vs the Giants and Mahomes’ two SB losses all have one thing in common…..the defense was able to heavily pressure them while only rushing four.

You can’t cover all day. They will still pick you apart if you don’t pressure them.

Jerry doesn’t get that. Wants to build from the outside in, which is the opposite of any winning strategy. Before anyone tries to argue against that…be sure to include that they haven’t won squat in decades, so something must be wrong.

I’m with you about the salary. Too much for a good receiver.
Right and it’s wild looking at these guys production like Deebo, Kirk and Kupp. I really thought they had better careers than they had. I saw Deebo only had 1 1,000 yard season and I get he did some stuff in the running game but still.
