WR is an overrated need

This is at least a 2 year project. So I'm not really concerned what positions they draft first 3 rounds. They'll just draft the other needs in 2026-27. We hope. Most aren't happy after the draft in the best of years. This year it will be even worse on here.

I agree with you that WR is being overblown a bit. The biggest issue with the passing game last year was the offensive line not the WRs as they had a top 5 offense in the league two years ago, with the exact same group of WRs and TEs.

That isn't to say that adding another weapon wouldn't elevate the team but stopping the run and being able to cover are bigger priorities to me, as is being able to run the ball so you aren't always in 3rd and long situations.

WR is an overrated need for this team.

CeeDee locked in as number 1.

Yes we don’t have a proven number 2, but we have 4 other guys making the roster: Tolbert, Turpin, Mingo, Flournoy. We technically used our 4th for Mingo who should be number two territory at this point in his career.

Now, one of these guys can develop into the number 2 (not Turpin who is a dangerous weapon). I can see Tolbert, Mingo and/or Flournoy taking a big leap this year. But we already have 5 guys at WR the team wants to give snaps to. The team def views WR as a high need per the 30 visits, but this doesn’t sit right with me given the above. Plus I left off Jalen Brooks bc he’s been atrocious IMO.

To me, CB is the most pressing need on this roster and leads me to question why Jahdae Barron isn’t a bigger rumor for us at 12 than someone like Golden. Barron would be able to own the slot and play outside if needed + adding another playmaker to our defense which was abysmal last season. How can we trust Bland/Diggs to be healthy? At this point it’s more likely one will be injured.

Trenches is always a need so there’s also that angle.

Finally, an elite TE like Warren might make even more sense than a WR in how it could help the run & pass O.

Am I tripping, or is WR an overrated need and we’d be just as good or better off going trenches, DB, or TE?
Wow. Yea let’s look at the Super Bowl team. Round 1 WR Round 1 Receiver Round 1 TE Round 1 RB.

If you think you don’t want to win in the playoffs yea it’s overrated.

Yr trippin

Agree Lamb injury is a great point for selecting another WR.
It's not like we'll be competing for a title this year with one draft. It's going to probably take at minimum 2 drafts. I like your idea better. If Lamb gets hurt, he gets hurt. We'll be in better draft position next year.

Since this draft is deep at WR but no blue chippers, better to take a WR in rounds 3-6 and see if he works out.

Tai Felton in the 3rd would be great, but he does need to put on some muscle.

Let's look at all super bowl teams: Topnotch interior DT's. All of them. No exceptions.
I'm all for drafting a high DT, but they aren't taking another 3T to be Osa's backup nor are they going to draft a two down NT in rd 1.

Day 2 is where they would be smart to draft a high-end NT like a Williams or a Collins.

WR is the biggest need on this team
I dont think he were are getting much else from Diggs, so I would have CB right up there. Keep in mind Elam and Carson are going to be playing roughly 100% and 70% percent of snaps if we dont add another quality player.

Not trying to agrue with your point with this (because I do agree mostly), but with some of the guys still available and the money we have left to spend, we could punt on WR in the draft and still be able to strengthen the position short term

Id add Ty Robinson in there somewhere. I think there is a good chance he becomes a better pro than college player

Totally agree - even down to CB being our 1st round pick. I’d trade down though.

Even if we do want to add a receiver, there are better options than spending a pick on it - and that’s even if we trade for more picks, such is the level of need on this roster.

Two options at least:
1) Sign Keenan Allen.
2) Trade down to 20, but instead of asking the Broncos for their 51, take their 85 and Courtland Sutton, throwing in one of our later picks to sweeten the deal.

That all said, I wouldn’t be devastated if we went into this season with the receiver room as is.
In this draft, there are better options for improving that offense straight away: namely draft a T and a couple of RBs. Trade down for an extra third and take the center from Georgia while we’re at it.

Just so many needs, not enough picks. Having no 4th is a killer this year where you could address RB there, but all options will be off the board in rd 5.

If there is not a top 15 defensive tackle you can’t force a pick and think you have a top defensive or offensive line by selecting one in the 1st round. That’s how you end up with a Carver or Shariff Floyd at 12.

Couldn’t disagree with you more…WR is a blinking red light need.
What about CB? Both outside and slot are "blinking red light," no? And with two holes at CBs we will surely be exposed badly. A deficiency in WR2 is easier to work with than deficiencies in both outside/slot CB, CB as a liability will ruin the entire season. Barron can play both. Barron could play outside on base formations then run the slot with whoever has the best camp playing outside between the other guys.

Tolbert, Mingo, and Flourney aren't separating from a league average #2 CB. If you can double CeeDee and play single coverage on those guys, you've pretty much shut the Dallas passing attack down.

Keenan Allen is still an FA. 1 year deal to plug in that hole for this season works for me.
