WR is an overrated need

Brother, the main part of their team is the elite OL & defense. That has to come first.
We’ve pumped 2 1st rounders, a 3rd rounder and a highly paid RT into the OL. At some point you have to let the guys develop. I think the OL will be fine and another top draft resource would be complete overkill and a misuse of resources.

I’m with you about beefing up the defense but that doesn’t change how badly we still need help at other positions on offense.

Wr do not win games. Running the ball and stopping the run does. We have enough at wr. It's A NEED but not our main need. Our main need or needs are running back and I can argue, at CB. Followed by DT. Drafting a wr at 12 is a luxury, unless that is the best available player.

WR is an overrated need for this team.

CeeDee locked in as number 1.

Yes we don’t have a proven number 2, but we have 4 other guys making the roster: Tolbert, Turpin, Mingo, Flournoy. We technically used our 4th for Mingo who should be number two territory at this point in his career.

Now, one of these guys can develop into the number 2 (not Turpin who is a dangerous weapon). I can see Tolbert, Mingo and/or Flournoy taking a big leap this year. But we already have 5 guys at WR the team wants to give snaps to. The team def views WR as a high need per the 30 visits, but this doesn’t sit right with me given the above. Plus I left off Jalen Brooks bc he’s been atrocious IMO.

To me, CB is the most pressing need on this roster and leads me to question why Jahdae Barron isn’t a bigger rumor for us at 12 than someone like Golden. Barron would be able to own the slot and play outside if needed + adding another playmaker to our defense which was abysmal last season. How can we trust Bland/Diggs to be healthy? At this point it’s more likely one will be injured.

Trenches is always a need so there’s also that angle.

Finally, an elite TE like Warren might make even more sense than a WR in how it could help the run & pass O.

Am I tripping, or is WR an overrated need and we’d be just as good or better off going trenches, DB, or TE?
Listening to all the so called experts on the interwebs lol... It's crazy listening to them tell us wr is our biggest need. It just isn't. I agree with you. Have we learned anything over the last year or more? Have we not watched how teams win meaningful games? They play bully ball. I'm struggling to see how drafting a wr at 12 helps our cause. He won't even be touching the ball or affecting the outcome of the game that much. It's a terrible mistake. The one caveat is if our draft board is telling us a said player at wr is the bpa. Then I'm ok taking him. I rather drop back and get picks.

So what happens when you run into a run stopping juggernaut in the playoffs like we have prior and teams are doubling Lamb?

It’s not that black and white…this isn’t the 70s.

The myth that lamb gets doubled every play is growing on here.

Overkill is the point. That is how you have a dominant OLine.

And a bottom 5 defense.
We're advocating for defense and oline. That's the whole point of us who aren't interested in wr2 being a priority. If devonta Smith missed the entire playoffs do the eagles win the super bowl still?

Most will pretend to not know but we all know they would have. Him and aj weren't even in the top 3 of why they won.

Im all about the defense. OL, no. At least not before the 5th rd.

And we don't have one of them.
Correct…which I never claimed we did.

We were top 5 in run block win rate last year and below average in pass block win rate.

Continued development for both of our top 100 selections last year and a young guy like Hoffman / Bass goes a long way IMO. Also completely fine drafting another mid rounder to compete just not someone early.

A dominant OLine makes the rest of the team better.

You can't say that about any other position group.

Any dominant position room makes the rest of the team better.

I’m all about the trenches but that is an incredibly narrow blanket type statement IMO.
