WR Seems to be the Likely/necessary choice at 12

Jerry Jones's favorite football position is WR. He has constantly demonstrated this.

Jerry has traded more than a #1 pick for a veteran WR three times when he got Joey Galloway, Roy Williams, and Amari Cooper.

He risked the lockerroom and his relationship with the HC when he signed TO.

He drafted Dez Bryant when a lot of teams wouldn't touch him.

If Jerry Jones could play any position he wanted in the NFL then I don't doubt for a second he would be a WR.

WRs are the big playmakers, typically making the most exciting plays. The are confident, brash, and the most controversial players in the league while making the most headlines. This fits Jerry's personality to a tee.

I put the probability that he will draft a WR in the 1st round at around 75%.

If we don't get a stud RB in this draft, forget about next year. We keep forgetting the missing important position for our success. No more dumb running back by committee. Get a #1!!!
I would take Hampton at #12 and not blink an eye. He isn't falling that far and it wouldn't surprise me if Denver trades up for him if he get's past the Cowboys.

No, we wouldn't. There are several DTs rated 1st round, not just late first round.

Value of draftees is not some black and white objective thing. There are many many factors involved. Relying on some weird grading system is what's been getting us into trouble. BPA is a fan thing, no GM would use such a simplistic tool

More WRs does not fix the run game, so it'll be more of the same, losing because we can't stop the run. When will the misery end?

You'll get your way, I'm sure, unfortunately Jerry thinks like that also. More WRs, more WRs, more CBs, more TEs. It's madness.
Remind us who the 1st round (plenty you say) DTs are that aren’t named Graham ( he gone by 12) and who aren’t late 1st rounders? You selling Nolan, Grant, and Harmon? Harmon should be late 1st at best, and mid 1st are slight reaches on the other two. You don’t want them at 12. Finding a sucker to come up to 12 for picks?

Who’s playing CB for the Cowboys this year? Most dependable guy is gone and there’s the Diggs delima, and Carson was overwhelmed in year one. If Will Johnson is there @12 and there’s not a serious discussion, you guys should abandon ship.

A WR could very well be the highest rated player on the board when the Cowboys pick. They could do far worse than finally getting a legit body to take pressure off of CD. They’ve been jamming hopes at the #2 WR and it’s just subpar. You’ve paid your QB. If the BPA on your board is a WR, just take him.

Our only chance is to surround our slug QB with talented weapons and hope he can get them the ball. So if McMillan is on the board it’s a no brainer for me.

Won't matter who's playing CB w/ our DT's.

Maybe Mason Graham or Abdul, but those guys will be long gone.

This WR class has no studs, no one really worth a 1st rounder. You can take an Ayomanor or Tai Felton in the 2nd or 3rd and get about the same level as any 1st rounder.
Right, I like those two WRs. Ayomanor is the best run blocking WR, he lit up Travis Hunter also with a weak QB. Felton is a master at the stop routes McCarthy used to love.

WR is a way bigger need than edge. Parsons, Kneeland, Williams, and Fowler is a good rotation.
It’s an ok rotation. Kneeland is a 2nd year player that showed promise but don’t know what he is yet. Williams is coming off a major injury and wasn’t an every down player before it so who knows. Fowler is a one year rental. I would draft an edge before WR with an eye to the future.

Exactly, 3 DEs are in contract years, so Parsons n Kneeland will be the only guys under contract after next season. DE should definitely be in play.

If JJ goes WR then that makes 2 of the first 4 picks used on that position. I like Grant and Tyleik, both were better players in college than Mazi. JJ hasn’t been good at drafting the right talent at Dline. Big misses with Taco, Hill and Mazi.

I see fans and YouTubers are jumping for joy with the ESPN mock of Tet and Henderson. I don’t get the excitement. Do the Cowboys want to be the Miami Dolphins. Big play passing team that can run the ball but get crushed in the playoffs because they suck in the trenches.
Im surprised you guys talk about the team in this way, championships and what not . It’s charming, like we have a shot.

I jsut want to see some better football, the cowboys are boring and slow. The offense can’t really feature tolbert Ferguson and davonte wiliams can it ?

I hear you but the Cowboys are probably two good drafts and some luck away from Super Bowl contention. To me we would be better off bringing in a defensive tackle 1 tech and a defensive end. That is where the draft is strong at. Plus a running back in the third.

AND GO INTO CAP HELL??????????
We've seen teams like the Rams and Eagles DESTROYED for years due to using Free agency! All they've gotten was some superbowl ring. But are they the #1 Team in the world? NOPE.
It's not sustainable having a GM that is more aggressive than a dead slug.
We've been around the rim for decades. One year it'll go in, or something.

This team has a lot of holes, that could use some help at #12, if you're not wearing Hopium glasses.
WR, Corner, DT, Edge, OL, hell could even include RB even though I'm against a RB in the first.
JaVonte Williams and Miles Sanders as the 1-2. Woof.

What do those two teams have that we haven't in the last 20+ years. Give me cap hell for a winning team.

Best way for Jerry to use the 12th pick is in a trade. They can grab a great #2 WR and still grab a great RB outside of Jeanty or Hampton in the second round. Best way is to accumulate another second round pick by trading back in the 1st. Look for a trade with Denver who will want Hampton. Trade your 12 for their 20 and 51 picks. Just with this trade alone you will fill 3 voids with stellar players at WR, RB and CB.

What are the great RB's after Hampton and Jeanty. You also have great chances to get leap frogged and teams get the ones you want. We have seen this numerous times. I would trade up not down in the second round. You need a high second round pick. Not a late one.

This team can't go wrong by picking any position with the 1st Pick, but WR seems to be position we are most desperate at filling.
Cee Dee is the only legit receiver we have and we don't even have a #2 on the roster.
We have people we can elevate to 2 but they are 3/4 at best.
We for sure could use a Safety, CB, DE, OL, or DL but the need of finding a complement to Lamb is vital.
The Cowboys should have their pick of the top WR's at 12 and might be able to trade down a few spots and still grab one.
If we wait until the 2nd, we will likely be selecting a #2 at best as opposed to selecting a legit 1/2 at pick 12.
It’s gotta be BPA at WR, DL, or CB.

All very true, but he likes his corners also.

Ya know, go against one of the older staples/cliches of a rule in roster building and do so from the outside in.

Jerry’s got his own plan, and you don’t mess with success, just keep doing the same losing things repeatedly.

This is 100% correct from what I have seen from the outside over the years.

Jerry has no clue how to build a winning team.

He does know how to market a team, and build the value of a team with FLASH.

WR is the flashy pick, so I suspect you are correct, and this is what Jerry will do.
