WR Seems to be the Likely/necessary choice at 12

What kind of coaching is he going to get and what system is he going to be put into? I need those answers before any predictions.
Dac is immobile at this point so they're going to have to create some plays for this guy to showcase them his talent.

If we don't take a RB before receiver, that will tell you that Jerral and Schotty were lying about run game focus.

Which of course they were.
I don't actually think that's true this year. The RB class is very deep this year while there's a chance Tet can fall to 12. If jeanty is also gone by then, you have to think WR would take priority.

Just posted this in the draft section, but how about if Steelers look to trade up to 12 for QB

Dallas gets - 21, George Pickens and 123 (4th rd)
Steelers get - 12
Pickens is one of my favorite WRs. I don't see that happening, though. Too costly for the Steelers.

That would be a steal; no pun intended.

I wouldn't draft a WR before the 5th round, if at all, honestly. The entire draft, minus a RB, needs to be defense. CB, LB, Edge, DT. All are needs. Between Tolbert, Mingo, the Paris kid and they one they drafted last year, we can make due at WR if the QB can make decent throws and doesn't need 20 yards of seperation to get the ball in there.
Part of me thinks this too.

Also, don't count out Jalen Cropper. If he can can manage to hang on to the ball, he could be a legit player.

Beavis and Butthead can indeed mess things up further. Let's pray not. That said I highly doubt wr is a lock at 12. We are dang thin in the dline. We need to get stronger there. Now if that means the best available player at 12 is a DT, you go with your board and take him. If a wr is the bpa there, TAKE HIM. Do not force a pick based on dire need. It's too early to say what we will do til the draft actually starts. Then we might have a good idea. It all depends on what happens in front of us.

This team can't go wrong by picking any position with the 1st Pick, but WR seems to be position we are most desperate at filling.
Cee Dee is the only legit receiver we have and we don't even have a #2 on the roster.
We have people we can elevate to 2 but they are 3/4 at best.
We for sure could use a Safety, CB, DE, OL, or DL but the need of finding a complement to Lamb is vital.
The Cowboys should have their pick of the top WR's at 12 and might be able to trade down a few spots and still grab one.
If we wait until the 2nd, we will likely be selecting a #2 at best as opposed to selecting a legit 1/2 at pick 12.
This isn't a very strong WR class at the top so would hate to force a WR at 12 if it's not close to the best available position. Best value at that spot is likely DL and OL, but we'll find out in draft day.

What DL do you think is a good value at 12? Graham is likely gone by then.
If we trade down then it's possible but there isn't DL rated in the Top 15 besides Graham.

It's the last year of his contract and he's been a headache for the team. His numbers are good, not great as well. 900 yds last year only 3 TDs.

i hope no WR round 1. i want in order
jeanty RB
warren TE
best O lineman on the board

i was against TE, but the more I read- this guy is something special and can block.
Warren - I think he could have done a decent job at QB at Penn State.

I saw him play in person during his HS years, every home game football and a couple basketball games. Man among boys. Penn State: Man among boys. I don't see that changing in the NFL. He simply does not lose his cool, always knows what to do. Saw him line up and be effective on defense as robber/nickel safety in HS (while playing QB the other way of course); also punt return team even. Football IQ is something special indeed. He was behind a logjam at TE at Penn State, who sat him behind older (and lesser IMO) players.

He was a QB in high school, IIRC. That explains why he knows where to be on any given play.

yes he was. saw each home game. my personal doctor is also the HS team doc, fwiw. Warren was also captain of the basketball team.

A lot of very good WR's in this draft. I would rather they trade down into the late teens-early 20s range, pick up a 3rd round pick (to make up for having no 4th) and take a receiver there. In other words, if a WR is not the best player available at 12, don't draft one just because they need one.

Also wouldn't mind moving down in the 2nd round to pick up a 4th. Then they will have 12 picks (a 1, a 2, two 3s, a 4, two 5s, two 6s, and three 7s.) Can fill a lot of needs there instead of just reaching on a Matthew Golden or Emeka Egbuka.
My guess is they have fixated on Golden, a local favorite already, but will trade down a few slots for a third, as they did last year and also when they traded down before selecting Parsons.

That’s the secret sauce.

You don't know until the 11 in front are gone. If McMillan is gone then you would think they would want to trade down for any of the other WRs.
I would still take Holden or Egbuka at 12. Can’t afford to trade more than a couple spots and risk not getting one of them.

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to trade back and stockpile picks to me. WR is one of those positions that I feel is easy to find in later rounds unless you are talking about a generational type talent at WR like a Randy Moss or Megatron, and I don't see anyone of that caliber in this draft.
If it’s so easy the Cowboys wouldn’t be sitting with Lamb and a bunch of 3s at best. They draft receiver almost every year.
