Wright is a liability

Joseph didn't impress either.

Joseph played pretty well, other than his special teams foul up.

Show me one CB in the league who would not have gotten beat on the play he got beat on.. Just one.

Wright is not even the 4th corner on the team. Hard to be a liability, when you will barely see the field.

Thomas Grant Gustin.

No way he should make the roster but given how the team drafted him in the THIRD freaking round you know they won’t cut him. And we can’t even trade him. DQ is pretty much the only dude that wants a 6’4 corner.

- how do we know that we cannot trade him ? ... we dunno what re-thoughts, re-evaluation Dan Quinn will have of Wright at preseason's end ?

- And how do we know if Wright will Not rebound from this one bad game, ..to have a turnaround terrific game vs Chargers ?

Liability means you’re hurting the team and I don’t think he’s doing that yet. He had pretty good coverage on the touchdown coach. You can’t defend a perfect throw and catch

He had a rough game, but I still would like to see more of Wright, I love his measurable. But the rookie is going to make the CB room very interesting.

His play wasn’t bad enough to warrant a call out thread. I’d be more concerned about Joseph.

Who else remembers when he was the best thing since sliced bread after minicamp last year?

You deduce this based on one preseason game? For all we know, the coaches may have had him playing coverages that are his weakness just to see how he does. Last year he looked good on defense, played special teams, and scored a TD. He won’t be cut unless he plays poorly the next 2-3 weeks.

He didn't impress me for a 2nd year 2nd round pick back up. At best.

I didn't think you'd be able to name one.

He's where he's supposed to be.

My beef is with the safeties. Coyle had a good series. He even forced a punt with his play.

But he has to anticipate the pass quicker if he's going to play the deep ball. Otherwise, it's pointless to have a safety over the top.

I also don't think Wright is a liability, per se. He's a young player. He was man up on some players, which isn't really a fair ask of any of these guys. And he didn't get any real help from the safeties. The problem, as far as I can tell, was with the safeties more than the corners. They're going to get beat, and Wright at least forced them to beat him with precision.

Based upon the information that I've seen about Wright and Joseph, also, they aren't performing quite as well as they should. I wouldn't be too surprised if they're on the bubble but that's a story for another day. Hopefully, they'll improve their performance soon. Other than that, being waived when the final cuts come up wouldn't be out of the question. I do believe Wright is somewhat more in question than Joseph, who is less experienced.
