Actually, if Dallas decides to pass when seeing an 8 man front the defense would be in great position to double Witten with the SS and OLB. That would also allow them to double RW11 (if they care to) with the FS and CB. That means whoever wins the #2WR spot, Crayton or Austin, must consistently beat one on one coverage.

We know Crayton struggled doing so when he was a #2 and now the question is can Austin. I hope so. If not, I say run the ball anyway. Emmitt ran against 8 men and so does every great back or great running attack. Make someone miss or impose your will against theirs.

I want to see a OLBand SS keep up with Witten running a deep seam route when the D starts with 8 mean in the box. The reason that Witten is no match for an OLB is because he can out run them running the seem routes.

Also, good luck doubling both Roy and Witten out of an 8 man in the box D if the QB gives even a decent run fake, unless you expect the FS and SS to be able to catch up with Witten and Roy from behind.....

our WR core is poor. If you consider the Vikings WR core to be poor then you have to consider ours to be poor as well the only difference is they have a much better run game than us.

What about the Giants with Plax? They went 11-1 with him, and no other receiver is really a threat.

They didn't have the best TE in football either.

Actually Crayton was solid, as our #2 WR. 50 - 691-7 is far from bad stats for what is essentialy the #3 WR for Dallas. Don't fool yourself into thinking who ever Dallas lines up as the #2 WR is anything but the #3 receiver, as Witten is and has been the last several years our TRUE #1 WR.

We were elite....

Now we are mediocre at best.

Wr's werent the problem. It was our unimaginative playcalling and QB who is a walking turnover.

Steve Smith ? Hixon. Toomer is reliable and consistent.

Honestly their WR corps is underrated and a lot better than ours when they did have plax.

Smith > Crayton
Hixon > Austin
Toomer = RW
Plax = TO

more or less I think.

I think that Seattle signing Housh, getting Branch healthy and with Burleson have an above average group. Hasselbeck is above average and TE's need to be counted in the receiving corps also.

Dallas should count Witten in the mix when you rate them and a good third down back helps out a lot also. Felix could be outstanding coming out of the backfield in a Marshall Faulk type role.

San Diego, Indianapolis, Dallas have outstanding TE's and Seattle has an up and comer in Carlson.

I could not disagree more. Plax may equal TO last year, but Roy Williams basically equals TO last year, and Roy is MUCH better than Toomer is right now. Ans Smith and Hixon are basically equal to Austin and Crayton.

Toomer is a FA who the Giants have no intention of signing. So take away Toomer and Plax will not play 16 games, he will be suspended at least 4 games by the Commish, so I think our's are better.
