These are the WRs taken in round one in the last three drafts sorted by their draft grades followed by receptions/yards and touchdowns in their rookie seasons. Since we trying to do something similar to the Eagles on offense my benchmark is 800 yard receiving (in bold) since Devonta Smith had 833 last season. This years class is inserted in bold by draft grade but obviously no stats yet.

2024 Round 1 Pick 6 Malik Nabers 6.86 109/1204 7 TD
2024 Round 1 Pick 4 Marvin Harrison Jr. 6.83 62/885 8 TD
2024 Round 1 Pick 9 Rome Odunze 6.74 54/734 3 TD

2022 Round 1 Pick 10 Garrett Wilson 6.5 83/1103 4 TD
2022 Round 1 Pick 18 Treylon Burks 6.5 33/444 1 TD

2022 Round 1 Pick 12 Jameson Williams 6.48 1/41 1 TD
2025 Luther Burden III 6.47
2024 Round 1 Pick 23 Brian Thomas Jr. 6.47 87/1282 10 TD

2025 Tre Harris 6.3
2025 Isaiah Bond 6.3

2024 Round 1 Pick 24 Xavier Worthy 6.29 59/638 6 TD
2022 Round Pick 16 Jahan Dotson 6.25 35/523 7 TD
2024 Round 1 Pick 32 Xavier Legette 6.26 49/497 4 TD

Footnotes
:
-Njigba only played in 3 games his last year at OSU which may have slowed his adjustment to the NFL
-A grade of 6.5 is boom/bust but isn't always bad, Garrett Wilson was a boom but Burks has been a bust
-Jameson Williams was rehabbing an injury and played well in his third season
- McMillan's Comp is Drake London and they have the same grade
-Jordan Addison has outplayed his draft grade
-Pearsall was involved in a shooting but played well when he got on the field
- Luther Burden's comp is Garrett Wilson
-Matthew Golden's comp is Chris Olave
-Emeka Egbuka's comp is Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Seeing what the WR market is in 2025 (Chase getting over $40m annually) i dont see how there are posters that dont want a receiver in round 1. 4 years of controlled cost + an option year.
I have questions about all the receivers in this draft even before they all started dropping in the mocks. Defensive end is about to have two $40 million dollar players and we know what the quarterback market is so it doesn’t matter. Just pick the best player.

Agreed. Ordinarily, I'd say we should 100% percent go WR in the first round. But usually there are 3 top flight guys. There's one this year, and he also doubles at CB.

Pick the best player and sort the cap **** out later.

If your talking about another bust for the Cowboys, Tet has the potential to be one and it probably won’t be all his fault.

Using free agency numbers from this offseason, $10M/yr gets you Aaron Jones at RB or Tutu Atwell at WR. $12M gets you Josh Jacobs (signed last offseason) at RB, or Darius Slayton at WR. Receivers have just got mind numbingly expensive.

For that reason, I actually don't think Egbuka is a horrible pick at #12. If he becomes JSN, or even 80% as good of a pro as JSN, how much would he be worth on the free-agent market?

Bingo

Because a 1st round WR doesn't change anything. He's tied to a mediocre QB and a defense that has some of the most middling DL play (outside of Parsons) in the NFL. If a WR is bpa at 12, then consider it. But I doubt a WR is going to be the sole bpa at 12. I suspect there will be a few players with similar grades. The Lamb pick was a no brainer because he was clearly the best player on our board sitting there having slipped. I doubt that's going to be the case here.

I am not forcing myself to draft a skill player just because we need a #2 WR and because they are expensive in FA.

And personally, unless Hunter falls, I don't see a WR that is a must have at 12. I don't any of the guys people are talking about like Burden or McMillan are even in the same class as Lamb and Jefferson.

Easy no-brainer pick is Golden or Burden.
