What's the deal with him. I thought we moved up in the draft to get our future free safety and then we play him at nickel corner all year. Now the talk is to move Byron Jones back to corner, does that move Woods to free safety? I'm confused what the plan is with this guy. I like him a lot, just confused as to the plan.

Well, hopefully someone has a plan eventually. My guess is they don't know yet. It will likely take a TC to sort thru some of it including injuries which will affect things as well.

While true, you never know with a Garrett TC. Completely healthy Cooper was benched in favor of an out of position backup LT and unhealthy Green; coming right out of TC.

Just curious who has been saying that other than fans? I haven't seen anything from the org.

I think they should try him at corner. He's not a safety so they might as well try it out.

I sure the plan was for Woods to play safety, but multiple injuries to Scandrick, Awuzie, and Lewis forced the Cowboys hand. Not to mention the early struggles of Brown and Nolan Carrols dismissal didn’t help matters. Good thing, Woods was up for the challenge. He got better the more he played, as did Frazier, Awuzie, and Lewis. Woods proved he has speed to run like a CB, yet was a physical tackler unlike Byron Jones. An offseason to get bigger/stronger should bode well for a switch to safety, which will allow Jones to move back to what he does best at CB.. covering TE’s.

He was good at slot CB.

They liked having a good run defender at slot CB.

The team has never said anything about Jones at CB. That is all fan talk.

He played as the slot CB for at least 6 games this season including the final 5.

No, he played slot CB the final 5 games and on some occasions before that.

Health was playing FS in the later part of the season.

As long as he's on the field its a good thing dont worry about position, he'll get better the more he plays

Wonder if he's agile enough to do it consistently?

I like this kid. Wherever he ends up, great pick, esp for a 6th.
What we really need back there is another Barry Church, a guy who just knows and understands the game and gets everyone where they need to be. Although I can't say that I would've paid him what he got, we miss Barry. Here's to hoping that Xavior is another Church type, specifically w/ his instincts, which is where Barry stood out the most.
