I wonder if the Cowboys could deem him physically unfit to play to get out of the contract, or at least get some of the cap hit removed.
If they have not seen it by now, the never will in the future. That boat sprung a leak a long time ago.

The one commonality, besides Jerry, in the Cowboys lack of success over the years has been a bad defense.

Partly why I want a defencive head coach like a Glenn, Vrabel, or Lanning from Oregon. Dak and a good OC should be enough for the offense for play calling. We need a HC who's specialty is defence so we can fix the defence.

You need another one of these...........Hit up the man upstairs and see if he wants to Fix the Gimp cause at this point (after 9 seasons) only a miracle can do it. :muttley:

So, your a horse, huh? You need to be put out to pasture. Oh, and take Dak with you because there is no fixing him, he's done broke, saddle horse broke!

*Facehoofs* well, that's part of the reason to get a defencive coach. Get the defence built really well and build a better running game. Nothing we can do about the contract for a few years, but we can try to set things up for the next QB to be successful.

What for? My plan is about building the team for the future. We can't really do much about Dak's contract until 2026 at the earliest (assuming no restructures) with a June 1 cut. The most optimal time would be 1 June 2027. As I've said several times in threads, that gets us $44 mil in cap relief and only about $16 mil in dead money. So, for between 2025-2027, we need to build this defence and build the rushing attack so we can set the replacement QB up for success. And, by doing it this way, we can take a QB in 2026, let the QB sit for a bit to learn the game from the sideline, and then, when he's ready, let him take the field. It's a great way to create a smooth transition for the next QB while we fix the glaring weaknesses we have.

Draft a quarterback, draft to protect him. The defense isn’t bad except for injuries and coaching. What a difference coaching could make. We lost a great one.

Also, defensive head coaches tend to have good running games.

Exactly, which we need, and they like physicality, which we need. Developing such a culture will help,. especially in terms of getting a replacement QB as the rookie/young QB after Dak can just focus on their job.

Right, and, while I like Shadeur, I'd love to get Archie Manning or someone in 2026. We need to build this team for the future. Then again, if we can make Dak a June 1 cut in 2026 and get 40 mil in cap space, I suppose Shadeur could be an option since he could sit behind Dak for 2025 and then takeover in 2026. I'd just like to make sure he's got a better defence, a run game, and another receiver aside from Lamb so that he can have a chance at success.

Accuracy, intelligence, arm, strength, people don’t like Dion in Texas. So automatically his son is going to suffer with the fans. But I never cared about the fans. Get Dion son and let them sit for a season or two no way he’ll throw him right into the fire and ruin another young prospect.

Not to mention that we'd have a 5th year option to use on him. Let me play with this idea in a thread I'm going to write. As much as I want Jeanty, I wouldn't be opposed to Sanders one bit.

You’re so eloquent, I wish I had your talent. My daughter has a masters in writing 780s on her English SAT. She’s a head manager now with the major toy company for children’s games. You’ve done very well for yourself cowboy brother.
