I'm ready but I'm worried about our defense.
I'm definitely hyped, but our defense still scares me.
Yes I think the defense will be much improved this season but I don't know if we'll see it in game 1.
Great post as usual x. They are young AND a couple rookies have been banged up. Not a recipe for early season success.

How are you all feeling this morning about that defensive debut?

I'm legit interested in your take on the defense after game 1. You all seem to represent the opposite end of the confidence spectrum in them and I'm curious as to how your opinion may (or may not) have changed.

As I stated earlier here, I believe our offense will continue to place them in low pressure situations as the season progresses. Our offense is highly efficient and that efficiency will feed into a less than helter skelter experience early on defensively. I believe that formula will allow the defense to grow into a real strength "by seasons end".

I think that if the offense can play better (they were playing a very good defense) and score a little more, control the ball like they did in game 1, then they will take pressure off of this defense while the young secondary learns....week #2 should be a similar game to Week #1...and then, if everyone is still on the field for Dallas, they have Arizona and the Rams in weeks 3 & 4....the first quarter of the season could be a pretty positive one....

They looked pretty darn good. It was obviously one game, but I was impressed.

Last night was the very first Cowboys home game I ever attended, it was overwhelming, I drank a lot. I don't think I'm prepared to reevaluate the defense just yet, but they did play very well last night. If they continue to hold teams to under 10 points what can I say at that point? I'll be in Sedona Arizona tomorrow night and am hoping they show the next Cowboys game on tv there and I'm sure I'll have some statements to add during/after the game. I hope your right about the defense being better then I think they are.

Awesome! My first Cowboys game attendance was in the old Texas Stadium against the Denver Broncos back in the mid to late 90s. I still haven't made it to Jerry's World yet. Cheers bro! Progress!

I thought Jaylon actually jarred the ball loose before the guy's knee hit the ground with that forearm shiver while Sean Lee had the guy wrapped up. Too bad they came at us with that lame dead ball crap.

The D looked better than even I expected. It would suffice to say Jaylon is probably feeling pretty darned good this morning knowing that he made it through his first full game in fore er with flying colors. #ClearEyeView :D

I've believed that the defense would be at least as good a last year but could be a lot better with D-Law healthy, a better Maliek and having Jaylon in there too, and if the young DBs can start getting up to NFL speed by mid season we could have a really good, top 10 D going into the playoffs when it really matters.
