But yet, Dak was no less effective throwing the ball more downfield under previous OCs.

Dak is what he is. McCarthy just compounds the problem as he's not a very good OC.
He's been calling plays for championship teams for a long time.

So will it take 10 playcallers to find the right one? 20?

LOL.

He won a SB with arguably the best QB in football other than Brady over a decade ago. Since then, his teams were up and down to the point around 2015, he gave up play calling for the Packers (eventually he took it back and still stunk). He gets fired and no one scrambles to hire him as a HC or OC. In the meantime, the Packers replace him with a first time HC who is an offensive minded guy and Rodgers goes on to win two MVPs in his late 30s and they make back to back NFCCGs.

This is Garrett all over again. I guess we are going to have to go through a few more seasons before this becomes painfully obvious.

Dak Prescott.

Period.

There isn't an offensive coordinator alive who can win anything meaningful with him.

You can't make chicken salad out of chicken you know what.

The defense has to do this by itself of they're going to win it this year.

Great. Dump Dak. I got no problem with that if this thing continues like it has thus far this year.

But thinking getting McCarthy a new, better QB will release his brilliance as an OC/HC is laughable. He is what he is. You guys are doing the Garrett thing all over again.

Look at Payton without Brees. Belichick without Brady. Etc, etc, etc.

It's about the QB, not the playcaller.

McCarthy was on Dak's butt multiple times yesterday. His patience is wearing thin.

Eight years of this, and it's not going to change.

It's by design. Protect the football, win the turnover battle and TOP. The D can't be relied on to carry that banner week in and week out. McCarthy will have to adjust.

Just my opinion, but I think this passing attack is built around significant passing production from the TE position.

So far, this group has been underwhelming. If they can become reliable mid range targets for Dak, it opens things up a but more for the offense.

Schoonmaker has been a no-show, Ferg looks sloth-footed out there, and Hendershot is a developmental guy.

In addition, I think the OL instability has been a factor. Hopefully things improve when we get the starting 5 on the field together. Fingers crossed

They let the only veteran TE they had leave, and didn't make any effort to find another vet.

Ferguson is far from what's wrong with the team. He showed a lot more life than most of his teammates.

McCarthy had Rodgers for over 10 years and had middling results outside of that one SB.

So yeah, continue to think Dak is the only problem here. My fear is Jerry is as silly as some of you thinking that maybe Dak isn't the guy. So we don't extend him or cut him this offseason but they keep McCarthy and let him develop the new QB (whether that be Lance or whomever).

If Dak goes, McCarthy should be right behind him. He's not good enough.

The oline yesterday wasn't bad. It wasn't the best but it certainly wasn't the reason they lost. The passing game is below average. Don't believe me? Look at the numbers...Dak ranks 18th in passing yds (team ranks 21st), he ranks 24th in yard in the air and leads the league in poor passes. As for the red zome...they score a TD 40% of the time when in the red zone. They aren't going to beat really good teams if those don't get much better.

This is not even close to being a Super Bowl caliber offense...which means this team is not nearly as good as everyone thinks they are.
When your in the redzone you have to be good. Oline was not.

Not worried. If we have 3 oline out and play jets every week then we will have problems.

With 4 pro bowlers out were a different team. Glad you noticed.

The offense is designed to get quick passes out and let guys make plays. Then take a few shots if the coverage starts crowding them.
The TE is a big part of that and my biggest concern with them is not making catches. They aren’t superior athletes but you have to make the catch

Some o yall are hilarious.. When the stats favor Dak "stats don't matter." When the stats paint a negative picture "the stats tell you all you need to know." Some o yall need to be treated for schizophrenia. Dak was under duress pretty much the whole game yesterday. You know, the whole three brand new starters on the o-line thing. That was not the time to be going bombs away. It was a crappy game by the whole team not named Michael Gallup. It happens.. as long as it doesn't happen a lot I can live with it.

Either dak has regressed after 7 years starting or Mikes play calling flat out sucks. Hint: Play calling sucks. Not a big fan of Dak but he's being chained to an anchor right now because Mike thinks scoring points loses games. The defense covered this flawed offensive scheme.

Just saw the game. Obviously defense was exposed, but there is a huge problem in the passing game. This has been all season, coupled with red zone futility (which was not a problem last year)

This could get bad. McCarthy and Dak better figure this Brad Johnson "Checkdown Charlie" crap out
> 7.0 yards per attempt is a general measure for mediocre passing attack. This offense is sitting at 6.3 - ranked 24th. Somehting is wrong

Yrds / attempt (min 2 games). Note: I only went back to 2008 to get Brad Johnson

2008: Tony Romo 7.7
Brad Johnson 5.5

2009 Tony Romo 8.2

2010: Tony Romo 7.5
John Kitna 7.4

2011: Tony Romo 8.0
2012: Tony Romo 7.6
2013: Tony Romo 7.2
2014: Tony Romo: 8.5

2015: Brandon Weeden 7.5
Matt Cassel 6.3
Kellen Moore 7.5
Tony Romo: 7.3

2016: Dak Prescott: 8.0

2017: Dak Prescott: 6.8

2018: Dak Prescott: 7.4

2019: Dak Prescott: 8.2

2020: Dak Prescott 8.4
Andy Dalton 6.5

2021: Dak Prescott: 7.5yds/att

2022: Dak Prescott: 7.3yds/att
Cooper Rush: 6.5yds/att

2023: Dak Prescott 6.3 yds/att
Stats dont lie...
