Inside linebacker is an area to address under new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer -- Leighton Vander Esch is entering the final year of his deal and suffered a serious neck injury in 2023 -- and Cooper is the best in this class. What makes him so unique are his exceptional movement skills and pass-rush upside. Cooper managed eight sacks last season, including three against Alabama in one of the best performances by a player all season. But Cooper also projects to have the range and instincts to be more than just a proactive linebacker making plays toward the line of scrimmage; he'll prove he can drop in coverage and carry tight ends as well.

25. Green Bay Packers - Cooper DeJean CB Iowa
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Graham Barton C/G Duke

I brought up Cooper a couple of weeks ago as well. I don’t mind going ILB for a special player. We took LVE 19th overall. Don’t think we won’t do it again.

Good thing Dallas hired all of those Analytics gurus.

Heck no to a LB in the 1st round, especially this one.

I would go Barton, Mims or Latham before taking a LB there.

Frankly, I think if you want to fix LB, free agency is the way to go and then maybe add a middle round guy like an Eichenberg. See what Josey Jewell wants, or see if Bobby Wagner wants one last chance at a run. You could even go with some mid-level guys such as Drue Tranquill with KC. Smallish but very effective LB.

I’d probably lean towards Dejean, Latham,
Thomas or Robinson as they are widely considered to be higher ranked prospects but I’d be ok with Cooper.

He’s the only 1st round LBr for me and gives you a pass rush boost.

I do like Cooper. However I am not sure that this draft has a first round LB at 24.

I would hazard to guess that their board would have Barton, Lathon, Mimms and Thomas Jr rated higher on their board while also being positions of need.

However...maybe they throw Zimmer a bone. Also wonder where they rank Chop.

Ugh. I remember watching the war room and everyone was fist bumping. I thought we had traded up for Derwin James.

we definitely need LBs but first rd LBs haven't been kind to us.lve is done and we had to convert Micah into a pass rusher only.

Eh, I couldn’t hate it. Feels like a bit of a reach to fill a need though. I feel like Dejean is the BPA, at least to me. But CB in the 1st is hard to justify.

I’d be happy with Barton.
