But I do have teh interweb and tv, and teh tv tonight reported that this might be a 2-3 week process. If that's the case, then the SB will be over and Lovie, or more likely, Rivera will be talked to.

The longer this goes, the better chance we get someone decent instead of a Phillips or Turner or worse.

Uh huh, yeah, now it's all gravy that Rivera is a serious candidate but last week supposedly Turner was going to be hired or better yet Jason Garrett was going to be head coach. Even ESPN was resporting that Wade Phillips was a serious candidate.

Jerry hasn't reverted to his old self. You're just panicking because he is interviewing Norv Turner. The Jason Garrett hire was actually brilliant. A lot of coaches and writers respect Garrett contrary to what you believe.

Look, what do you want Jerry to do. His goal was to keep Parcells but if he tells Bill to give him an answer in a week, Bill will just get pissed off and leave on his own. So Jerry had to coddle him if he wanted any chance of keeping Parcells. Sorry but the reality is guys like Parcells, Bob Knight and other greats are kind of a-holes and need to have their egos stroked.

But now Jerry is in a bad situation because of what Bill did. There are not many great coaching candidates available aside from Norv. Stoops isn't available. Whisenhunt, Grimm and Cameron are gone. He is not going to hire Dan Reeves. Even Mike Sherman is unavailable. Norm Chow is old and doesn't provide the feeling to teams that he can lead as a head coach. Even the Arizona Cardinals passed on Chow in favor of Whisenhunt. What do you want the guy to do? He is doing the best he can which is why is he going to make a play for Rivera after the Superbowl.

Not saying anything bad about your sources, so don't take it that way, but I have heard so many things since the cowboys season was over that I have learned not to trust too many sources.

NOT because they may be bad sources...it is just nobody but Jerry and maybe a handful that he trusts really know and they are not leaking it out yet. Another thing to consider is maybe at one time Jerry really was leaning this way or that and sources were getting that info. But Jerry may have also changed his mind a time or two already or just wants to make sure. So it is hard for sources to be dead on all the time.

Now...I honestly hope your info turns out correct.

Without getting into the merits of actually listening to the voices on your head or the whispers coming out of the sink drain, the assumption that Jones is "leaning towards" someone he has never spoken with goes against logic.

However, I think there is a good chance Rivera is interviewed and I wouldn't be surprised at all if the end result turned out to be HC Norv, OC Garrett, and DC Rivera. With Rivera contact up, he's totally fair game for a lateral move and the Cowboys will pay him more.

This is complete speculation on my part, but I think there are some factors and tidbits that could support this. Of course, this'll require that we actually believe some of the bits of news that have come out recently.

Now if Norv did in fact push for some control in hiring a staff, it's possible that Rivera would be his DC choice as Norv apparently knows Rivera through his brother. Could be Jerry wants to interview him before committing to the package. That way Jerry gets to choose, but can also give the impression that he giving more power to his new coach. Providing Norv with a spine so to speak.

Now I am no fan of bringing in Norv. I do not think he is a good HC. But he does have some experience. With this set up, the pros and cons sort of balance each other. The key is sort of a support system for the young guys.

Norv's pro are that he has been a HC before, is well regarded as a mentor and teacher. His con's are pretty well known, but I can hope that these problems can be balanced out by the youth and fire of Rivera and Garrett.

I'm still not happy with the idea of Norv as HC, but with this in place, I think I could live with it.

I completely agree. Even my sources can't say with 100% certainty who he is going to hire. They only told me that Rivera was really on the top of Jerry's list contrary to what people believed. Jerry is a brilliant strategist and so he purposefully plays up certain candidates to draw attention away from the person he really wants. These sources told me that he was doing just that in regards to Turner and Garrett.

However, they also told me he is ready to go with Norv. He trusts Norv and is excited by the fact that he has had success with young QB's. I can tell you this much, Jerry is excited as hell by Jason Garret. He was so happy to get Garrett. The entire organization is happy to have Jason on board. My source was saying that Jerry calls Jason the LeBron James of football minds in that he is young and has amazing potential. LOL

My bad then, I just said that because some fans think Jerry hired Garrett as a puppet when the truth is he is very respected among coaches in the league. Jason Garrett was a good hire. Also, I think he and Rivera will fit well with one another. Rivera is still relatively young and recalls what it was like to be given a chance. I think he would want to give a similar opportunity to a young OC like Garrett.

I just read something in another thread, can not remember which one, heck it could be this one as I am jumping around so much.

Now I remember them wanting Jason to stay with the cowboys and become a coach...I guess I aways assumed they meant QB coach.

But in one of the threads it was said that even at that time, when campo was still here, they were already talking about Jason and OC.

Pretty amazing.

I just hope we don't go with Norv...I just don't think he has the "stones" for the HC job.

It's only a matter of time my friends. Rivera will be our next head coach. I know everyone was saying that Norv Turner was going to be hired this week or that Garret was going to be the next coach. Neither happened.

Years ago, I posted that Jerry was going to hire Parcells and people thought I was on crack becaue there was no way a guy like Jerry would hire a control freak like Parcells

My sources are legitimate. These were also the same people that told me Parcells was going to retire at the end of the season if they lost in the first round. I posted that thread months ago. I don't mind being called a nutcase but thus far I have been right. There has been no disputing that.

Again, do you guys think Jerry is that dumb. He is leaning toward Rivera which is why he is waiting. Essentially, the Superbowl is Rivera's interview. Unless Manning lights up the Bears D, you can count on Ron Rivera being our next coach.
