Yeah, fire Wade and let Campo run the defense. Lord knows his secondary is tearing it up this year. He deserves a promotion.

And yeah, he'll strike fear into these players ... he's so respected by the players they only pull his shorts down in practice once or twice a day.:laugh2:

:lmao:

im glad the media is starting for once they are doing something right. hopefully they continue to put more and more pressure on jerry...

Cowlishaw is right:the time has come. Captain Kangaroo has lost the team. If JJ thought last week was bad............he ain't seen nothing yet if he lets manboobs continue to run this team into the ground. He cant afford that, not with a billion dollar stadium opening next season.

how right he is:

Loss should be Wade Phillips' last with Dallas Cowboys

ST. LOUIS – It was right there in front of Jerry Jones' eyes. And he missed it.

There is no more shining example of how the radical move of an in-season head coaching change can work than the one being offered by the St. Louis Rams.

Dead in the water at 0-4, the Rams fired Scott Linehan during their bye week and promoted Jim Haslett.

Last week's two-point win over Washington seemed a bit of a fluke, predicated as it was on gathering in three Commanders fumbles.

There was nothing remotely lucky about the Rams' thorough 34-14 destruction of the Cowboys at the Edward Jones Dome on Sunday.

What has been gathering steam for a month reached something of a crescendo as the Cowboys played by far their worst game of the Wade Phillips era. And frankly it should be the last game of the Phillips era, but Jones made it clear afterward that there will be no coaching changes made.

"It really isn't about changes peoplewise as much as it is changes within the people, within the coaches and players," Jones said.

No, Jerry, it really is about changing the people. This team is 1-3 over the last four weeks, a win over winless Cincinnati the only highlight.

Paying Phillips to fade off into the sunset would not cure all of this team's problems by any means. For one thing, the presumed next head coach, Jason Garrett, has for now removed himself from the "hot coordinators" list with his work over the last four weeks.

Phillips' low-key demeanor and aw-shucks approach elevated a team that had been beaten down by four years under Bill Parcells. But all of that is gone now.

It's just a team of uninspired excuse makers who take their cue from the head coach.

To his credit, Phillips didn't offer any of his trademark excuses Sunday, but, really, he couldn't. This wasn't about a break or two here or there, a blocked punt, a game that got away.

The Cowboys scored the first seven points, then just sat back and took it for more than three quarters as the Rams scored the next 34 points.

"We've all had stinkers before, but we haven't had one here," Phillips said. "That's what bothers me."

Phillips continues to coach a team that takes dumb penalties, that apparently doesn't know an illegal shift from a legal one. Brad Johnson certainly didn't cover himself in glory with his three-interception day in place of Tony Romo, but Johnson had plenty of company on both sides of the ball if you are looking for fall guys.

Rams rookie Donnie Avery looked like he could get open deep any time he wanted to. Steven Jackson (maybe we can still blame this whole thing on Parcells for not drafting him and wanting Julius Jones) ran for 160 yards.

When the defense wasn't getting lit up, "Pro Bowl" tackle Flozell Adams was getting his helmet handed to him by, among others, backup end James Hall.

The Cowboys owner talked about the need to right this sinking ship before it's too late.

"I understand the fear of continuing down the slope and not playing well," Jones said. "This sobers me up more than any game we've had. This is not the same feeling I had with the other two losses."

For those defeats, you could make excuses, and, very willingly, the head coach did.

This time he couldn't. And he shouldn't be left in place to come up with more excuses as to why a team with so much talent is heading towards the bottom of the NFC East.

There is no way to truly deliver a message of urgency to a collection of players and a coaching staff without, figuratively, cutting off the head.

View larger More photos Photo store Replacing Phillips with Garrett installed as the interim head coach would send a message to not just the football world but the locker room. It would spell out clearly that not just the results but the effort or lack thereof that produced a 1-3 stretch is not going to be tolerated.

Jones has acted boldly, swiftly, impetuously in the past.

This might be all of the above. But, really, it's the only way out of the darkness.

You could see it on the Rams' sideline Sunday. Unfortunately, Jerry wasn't looking in that direction.

Expect the Cowboys to continue heading in the wrong one.

Good thing Dallas gave up its first round pick.

It annoys me, too, that we'll be without a first round pick when the slot of the pick continues to rise.

The one good thing is that I think the heart of the trade was not a short-term impulse but to secure the future with Romo. We have a talented No. 1 type now to develop and have when TO wears down or retires. We didn't have that last Monday.

And I think the last thing Jerry or any of us would want us wasting the latter part of Romo's prime starting a bunch of yahoos at receiver.

If we happen to rebound later this season and Roy is a difference maker on a playoff team in the here and now, well, the more the better.

I didnt put the video up of wade walking around practice with his shorts down past his rear end, sunglasses on and hat backwards during the thursday practice leading up to the bengals game. I didnt put it up because I didnt want everyone ridiculing him and having the video end up on pro football talk and on mosleys blog etc... like the draft board did.

But like I said then, this team was brought up in this league under discipline and with discipline. No matter the results on sundays there was discipline during the week and a good structure to the team.

so if your a player in that scenario and you are used to all this structure and discipline and you see that after a tough loss, you have to just look at they guy like what is this.

throw in campo and you have what we see on sundays.

the whole defensive staff will be removed at the end of the year, its on them and the players. I think it is on the players more, but when you couple them with a bad staff, you get really bad results. And you cant change all the players on Defense, but you can change all of the staff.....

I can care less about the number one pick....the last thing they need is another prima donna who thinks football is his right rather than a privilege.

Someone needs to go PERIOD!! Personally, I would fire Phillips/Stewart ASAP...call the "chin" and offer him the world, promote Grantham. This team needs a major wake-up call.

I really think posting this might actually speed up the firing of the ******* and anything that helps him be gone soon would be greatly appreciated.

No I never will. I am actually going to delete it in the morning.

Does Wade Phillips deserve some criticism? Yes. Does he deserve to be fired now. In my opinion, no. Like it was already asked, who are you going to hire? Who is going to call the defense? I was mad at Phillips after that game. He needs to light into them, but fire him now? That is panicing.

However, some in the Dallas media can root for what they have wanted all along, so they can say, like many fans, "see, I told you so".

No matter how pathetic the effort or play was today, the Cowboys were playing without Romo, Felix Jones, Kyle Kosier, Terence Newman, Pacman Jones, Kevin Burnett and Pat Watkins.

Regardless of what you think of Phillips' coaching style, he was playing short handed today, and if Romo is playing the Cowboys always have a chance.

Some of the talent on this team is over rated. There are two elite players on defense (DeMarcus Ware and Terence Newman). This is an offensive team, and the offense has struggled this year in some areas. Is promoting Jason Garrett the answer right now, when Garrett has needed a head coach to check his management of Tony Romo at times this year?

The fans really need to just see what happens next week, because if Romo plays and Dallas wins, they are right in the thick of it. The other teams in the division and NFC have their own issues.

I'm not a fan of Wade, but it seems like all anybody does is talk and talk. There comes a time when you have to shut up and just get it done. Considering just the NFC East, to even get a wildcard slot, 10-6 won't do it. This has to be the last complacent, pity party, piss poor game the Cowboys will play this year. To ensure this Jerry has to fire Wade. Even though he has said Wade is safe, we have heard things like this before when he fired Chan Gailey. Jerry said he was safe, but a few weeks later he was gone. There has to be accountability.

Looks like the following coaches are set to being fired by fans. Wade, Red, Read, Stewart, and Campo. Lot of smiling coaches looking for job upgrades out there. Maybe some of us should send in our resume, you never know. :D

Give him until bye. If we don't win vs till then, wades gone.

I dont think Jerry can justify a 17-6 firing, and still keep the job attractive for future coaches.

who would find coaching for one of the most recognizable teams in all of sports attractive?

I just think firing phillips now could cause this team to go even further south and yes that is possible.

i don't think it is, we're on the fast track to 6-10 and if firing him makes us go 5-11 under Garrett then at least we know not to waste our time with him next season. We just got blown out by one of the worst teams in the league, i don't see how things could get any worse. Honestly i expect more of the same for the rest of the season if Wade stays on
