Yankees are proof you can't buy a Championship. They are now just following Boston and Crapsburgh's lead in showing that you can roid up your entire team to win a Championship.

Let me just say. Nothing is more enjoyable than scanning all the sports channels after your team has won. So many different perspectives.

I want this again in Feb.

I am thinking about going to the parade.

*$ YANKEE'S WIN! *$ Color me surprised! Like watching a big bully beat up on a baby.

Storied franchise my sweet bippy! They lost that title when they went all King Midas and steroid driven. So it should be STEROID YANKEE FRANCHISE.

But let's face it, baseball as we knew it years ago is gone, gone, gone. From rampant steroid use to buying championships, eet is so very GONE. Bud Sellout has ruined the game.

So don't put the Yankees with my beloved Cowboys. A salary cap does make a difference. There is parity in the NFL unlike in baseball.

As far as the NBA goes, wow, there are so many corrupt referees I can't follow the game anymore. Baseball and Hockey are headed that way too. The NFL is not far behind from what we've been seeing in the last few years. Particular the SB cheating Stealers against the Seahawks.

Basically, you have to follow sports now with the knowledge there's cheating on every level, and that some owners, cough, Steinbrenners, cough, will do anything to win. So you gotta take world championships, like the WS, the Stanley Cup, the SuperBowl, and NBA championships with a grain of salt. There is no glory or honor in beating up on teams with way less money than yours, with juiced up players or with corrupt officiating.

And the King Midas syndrome is why I stopped rooting for the Yankees in the 90's. And I was as diehard a fan as you'll ever see.

If the NFL were to do away with the salary cap and JJ resorted to buying without restraint like the Steinbrenners, goodbye Cowboys. And I've been a fan for over 40 years.

Of course, if it ever got to that point, I'd never follow another sporting event.

I hear ya I do. But you are wrong.

The Yankees didnt overspend in the 90's. They won the WS with mostly farm players sprinkled with a bunch of Free Agent acquisitions that were nearing or in the twilight of their careers.

So while it is POPULAR to say "the Yankees buy championships" - its simply not true.

The Yankees won this WS because of Mariano, Matsui, Jeter(hit safely in 14 of 15 games), Andy Pettitte, Joba, Hughes(his 2nd half of season is why they got to playoffs).

So we can run with fact or we follow what people say. Its your choice.

We won the Super Bowl following the 1995 season. The Yankees won in 2009. We should have won last year to make that connection. But I guess we can hope.

2009 has been a banner year for all of the sports teams I like: Tar Heels, Lakers, and Yankees have won championships and the Cowboys are soon to follow.

It starts about 100 yards from my building. :laugh2:

If the Cowboys win the Superbowl, I'm going to have my own parade through the Canyon of Heros here in NYC. ;)

In fairness, the Cowboys came into the NFL in 1960. The Yankees were already winning World Series Championships. In fact they had 19 of them at the time. So in the same number of seasons that the Cowboys have been in existence the Yankees have won 8 World Series and lost 7. The Cowboys won 5 Super Bowls and lost 3. I contend it is harder to win a Super Bowl because it is a one and done Championship.

Oh and the only season where both the Yankees and Cowboys won their respective Championships was the 1977 season. The Super Bowl is played in 1978, but it is still the 1977 Champions. In 1978 the Yankees won the Series and the Cowboys lost in Super Bowl XIII to the Steelers. 1977 and 1978 are the only seasons when both made their respective Championships.

Since the early 60s the Cowboys & Lakers have been my favorite teams in their respective sports.

I used to be a big Dodgers fan as well but gave up on baseball when they went on strike in 1994 and have never looked back.

I'm also a UCLA fan.

1971 was my best year when the Cowboys FINALLY won the SB, the Lakers won the NBA Championship for the first time since moving to L.A., and UCLA won the NCAA tournament!
