Yes had a ton of hits

This one best captures their ability to make movement within songs, a trait they were known for. The last 3 minutes is magical music at it's best.

The last 3 minutes are the "Wurm" section which is absolutely brilliant. Ditto for the first 3-4 minutes of Heart of the Sunrise.

I kinda like Yes, but for the sake of accuracy, OP, did they have a lot of bona fide hits, or just more songs that you like than you'd remembered?

Several were hits, ‘boys - Leave It, It Can Happen, Changes, Owner Of A Lonely Heart, Roundabout, Rhythm Of Love, Long Distance Runaround. Just a magical group w/ a magical sound thanks to all the talent. I’m 51 and rediscovered them at work today.

Well, I am just gonna have to dissect this post. Songs? Fine Magical group? Fine. What's 51 got to do with it and why did you have to go to work to rediscover them? Were they hiding in your business? Why were they at your place of business? I have retired and have to find out my favorite bands are showing up at businesses now? Had I known this, I might have delayed it.

Beaker, what other bands have been showing up at your business and are you hiring? I know Loverboy isn't there because they're working for the weekend. But BTO has been taking care of business, were they in the coffee room screwing with the Kuerig?

LOL cc, just hadn’t thought about them in forever and started listening to Leave It on CD and went from there. They were awesome. Maybe my glasses are a tad rose-colored but not much.

Not rose colored at all, they were one of the most talented bands ever assembled. That whole prog rock scene was an acquired taste, which I easily did, and they were one of the best. Yes - Symphonic is a must listen for me as is Wakeman's Journey to the Center of the Earth. These composers would have been the Classical composers, should that have continued, and to see them with a full orchestra fulfill their dream is gratifying. To watch Wakeman, dressed in all white and looking like a Tolkien wizard, surrounded by his keyboards, surrounded by a full orchestra never gets old for me.

My first bigtime concert was Yes in the round in the Montreal forum 1980ish. That image you describe of Wakeman and of Howe hopping around like a cat playing that acoustic part right before the end of Starship Trooper is burned into the memory.

I never got to see Wakeman solo live but had every solo album and listened to "The Six Wives of Henry the VIII" just last night after this thread was started.

It is interesting because it does sound dated but I can hear the influences in today's music, particularly in Shoegaze with Wakeman like melodies.

I had a ton of hits as well. About half of them were under sized, but the other half were keepers or oversized. Ended up with a limit of Redfish, Speckled Trout and Black Drum. Came up 2 short for Flounder. Also, many other hits along the way. :D

I got to see them once along with Poco who opened for them. I was pleasantly surprised to hear them sound the same live as they did on their albums, not many do....Rick Wakeman was always a favorite.
