Yet another, Are We Being Too Optimistic?

I won't say too much because god forbid I'll be accused of being a Giants fan. I'm pessimistic by nature and although I like the way the team is headed I don't think all of the draftees will pan out like some here think they will. I've already been vocal about that and was flamed for saying it. It's just the way drafts work. I don't care if it's a 1st round bust or a 4th round gem a la Dak, rarely do all 1-4/5 first picks work out. We were a bit spolied last year.

Even if they all deliver talent wise, I doubt they'll jump right in an start shutting down veterans. That goes for every team but the Cowboys are very young compared to many which is why I said I think we'll very good a few years down the road but I'm not as optimistic about this year.

IMO, a lot of people here are too quick to be soooooo happy about all the players we lost, specifically defense. As I've said all along, many of you may be in for a big surprise. It may appear on paper that our draft picks are more talented, and maybe they are, but for now they're unproven in the NFL and experience alone counts for a lot. Experience is something the majority of the secondary doesn't have and something many other teams do have at the receiver position. I hope I'm wrong but I'm not getting my hopes up for defense this year.

I think homers here are also like to forget that we aren't the only team that addressed needs. All other 31 teams have new players they're excited about as well.

Thats my abbreviated version :)
I think you nailed it.

But I have an even more abbreviated version that I relate in the following formula:. Speed + inexperience = running fast in the wrong direction.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I just don't think a lot of people get how this will be a very very young secondary.

They will get picked on. I like the nature of the players so I think they will be ready but it will get ugly before it gets attractive.

Great secondaries can happen overnight.

Well, they don't happen until you fix the pass rush. Not convinced we did that.

Maybe not Johnson, but Jason has brought us back to a dominant run game something that was pretty much lost on the rest of the league. Jason was at least smart enough to take away that from the Jimmy J days.
Jason has brought us back?? Back to where?? Did Garrett run the ball..or did he mismanage the club to a 4-12 team that took a hugh chance drafting a RB at 4th overall....

Probably had something to do with you saying a 5'10 guy was 5'8, that Zeke didn't get a hundred and then saying where have I been wrong. Factually incorrect in a biased manner isn't a good look.

Oh and talking about the Giants in every post probably doesn't help either.

My God, I immediately apologized and corrected myself. I was off by a whopping 2 inches and 7-9 yards. Get over it.

BTW, scanning through your posts for about all of 2 mins I could easily nit pick several things you have said so I guess you lose all credibility as well. Welcome to the club chief.

I don't have anything to get over. You're apparently still holding onto it though. Methinks thou doth protest too much.

To be fair, you did follow him to another thread bringing an argument in tow. Not that I minded. Your drama was fun from an outsiders perspective.

Yes, it was Jason who decided to blow up an aging OL and rebuild it to his liking. Not sure how u could doubt that Jason is the one to bring us back to power smash mouth football ala Jimmy J...at least on the offensive side. As far as taking a huge chance on Zeke at #4, well I don't see it that way at all. Taking Zeke at 4 was the only and smartest option...Power Punch them in the Face make them quit Football,I think Jason took that directly from Jimmy. After all he saw it first hand with Emmitt running behind our dominant 90's OL. No one else in the league put so much emphasis on the OL and RB, Jason did and it's beginning to bear fruit so much so that you are now seeing RB's being highly valued once again.

Apparently you do otherwise you wouldn't have brought it up nor would you remember one persons opinion from almost a week ago. Perhaps I should be exactly precise, I'd hate to be off by a day or two and offend you. I also noticed you're quite good at criticizing others, whatever makes you feel good. I had an inferiority complex when I was 5 as well and always felt the need to put others down to make myself feel better. I get it, I really do. Don't worry, you'll grow up one day...hopefully.

Have a great night buddy.

I didn't follow him or interact with him in the other thread. I read his post here where he's still whining about it.

Remember in that preseason game with romo going down last year? Well was that seasoned veterans name cam chancellor? The seahawk dude that pretty much got 'pantsed' on national t.v. by that rookie Elliott? I'm of the mindset every player we drafted is packing the
'Elliott attitude' ,,,,oh,yes!
Other than H.C. Garret killing some of those guys best talents ( I really think he's got a "power monger" ego, personally) it should be better than what your expecting,,, other teams are eating dust and riding drag, 3 teams moved up to draft a q.b. this year, I call that the " Prescott Effect ",,, out of the 31 other teams some are already D.O.A. in my view(bears/bills/jets) maybe 6-8 teams could be lethal in our advance ,we need to play 'em,,,,

Whining is a bit strong. Mentioned it in passing is how I took it. I too spectated the event, but felt bringing it up may detract from the otherwise good conversation we were having. Not that I'm knocking you bringing it up; removed from that exchange was welcome comedy relief.

Have at it huckleberry. Please show me a factually incorrect statement. You've got em handy and it's easy so let's see it.

Do you Melon. I truly do love your enthusiasm. This place needs that.

My role, I think, is different, because I'm more of a mixed bag...which is partially due to the fact that I can't figure out exactly what I really think.o_O

Remember, this is a different year. What was weak last year, could be a strength this year.

It usually stays the same for the most part. Only team I can see changing in the giants.

I'm just going to say this once, and I have no plans of arguing about it, but I think this is the '92 Cowboys all over again. The beginning of greatness.

It very well could be. They have another great draft next off season this team could be set up to run from the 19-20 season on.
