Yoga For Hamstrings

I am just wondering if any of the Cowboys practice Yoga for flexibility and balance. You see so many of the skilled players with hamstring issues that never seem to get better. See Miles, Jenkins, Tanner, Felix and even Newman from time to time. You can do all of the strength training in the world, but you have to remain loose and flexible when playing football. Your body takes such a toll playing this sport. I would just like to see the players survive the years they play this game and come out of it less damaged.

well, i do know that demarcus ware does pilates, which made me respect him even more because i do pilates myself. it's great exercise. as for anyone on the team doing yoga(which i also love), i have no idea, but i know that it can help strengthen the hamstring.

It's certainly a good idea, so long as they do it right and long enough. But it's no guarantee. Ballet dancers stretch for hours before performing, and I once was about to complain that these hamstring injuries could be eliminated if football players were as careful. But then i read that hamstring injuries are extremely common even among ballet dancers.

A program of stretching -- whether yoga or some other system -- should help, but these folks (football players and ballet dancers both) have powerful leg muscles put under under a lot of stress. And sometimes those muscles succumb to that stress.

Yoga's great. I think just about every professional athlete should do it. World class athletes need to have world class flexibility, core strength, and balance.

Emmitt Smith had his own personal trainer that worked specifically on his hamstrings for the most part. As I beleive Emmitt, especially early in his career, had tight hamstring issues. So he kept this treatment up throughout his career.

where is this guy now?

Herschal Walker used to do Ballet.

Was gonna post the same thing about Emmitt. Good memory.

If you want to keep hamstrings healthy just ****ing stretch.

Literally all you need to do is bend over

Or he could actually stretch properly before games.

Austin does bikram yoga hasn't prevented his hamstring injuries.

A longer muscle can develop more power in a long stroke. It's a nobrainer.

I just wonder if during workout the Cowboys don't include this as part of their workout schedule. I just have noticed more pulled muscles the last few years. Just makes me wonder if their had less overall strength and more speed and flexibility (skilled players) if we would be better off.

I love when fans think that their own personal experiences are somehow genius, and that professional athletes and trainers have never heard of such mysterious practices.

Most of these guys do some sort of exercise or training outside of valley ranch.

My question is do they do this INSIDE of Valley Ranch under a trainer's watch and care? We all know that some players don't do ANYTHING unless it's mandated.

......as someone posted earlier this week, dude is pretty pumped up. Almost too muscle bound for a position with that much running. But...it's all speculation really. Damn shame: it's limiting him big time and hurting the team as well.
