So if the whole team stays healthy and we win the superbowl, will that change your mind?

You can't have probowlers at every position.

Absolutely.

Glenn Carano, Larry Brinson, Steve Wilson, Dave Stalls and Guy Brown.

The real reason behind our success in the 1970s

While the thread title is perhaps a bit overdone, who here is not concerned about Newman's "slight" injury? Last season saw significant problems due to injury and they certainly contributed to yet another December swoon. Were any of our special teams problems due to a lack of talent? Did a lack of depth contribute to Romo running for his life at times? References to no name backups of the past does not change the fact that depth can provide a critical bridge through an injury and also helps rest the starters in spots during the long grind of the season.

I believe the Cowboys did take steps in the offseason to add some competition (and perhaps a better attitude) to the roster and that hopefully will add some depth as the rookies get better. For example, regardless of whether they succeed or not, the Cowboys made a real effort to try to improve the depth at CB. My only real problem with this offseason is that little effort was really made to add a lot of competition to the OL and I think that given our history, more should have been done.

I recognize coaching and scheme can also help to mask depth problems so the whole can become better than the sum of the parts. We'll see but I share some of STS's concerns.

Usually it is the HEALTHIEST team that wins it all. Rothssburger was running for his life last year with the porous O line he had. So the backups were only marginally worse then the starters. Once again it was the D (and the Refs) that won the steelers a SB.

This post is pure genius. The OP is completely debunked in 3 lines.

It's salary cap football guys.

If you get guys injured, especially your QB, than you're going to pay.

Welcome to the wonderful world of free agency & salary cap era.

We will be fine, most SB winners win with their starters.
