You are the Defensive Coordinator. How would you fix it/prepare for next game?

Try to move Spears to the Bench only to have him stuffed by the water cooler. Hype Bobby Carpenter as an all-world special teamer to the Press so that it will divert their attention from his being a bust.

If healthy and ready, I would blitz Burnette each chance I could.......he can fly and cause problems.

Seriously, during the week I would drill these guys over and over so that the basic mental errors aren't repeated.

I would do some kind of tackling drills, too.

And during the game, if the other team insists on short drops and quick throws, I'd drop the OLBs into coverage more often. If they're going to throw it before you can get to the QB anyway, at least drop those guys to combat the quick throws.

And yes... Hopefully Burnett can play on D this week. We could use his speed.

Tell Marcus Spears that if he does not start getting to the passer Wade will arrange for him to spend some time in GITMO and Abu Gahraib; with some time spent waterboarding. AND if that doesn't get results go for the long knife.
Tell Roy that for every missed tackle he will be fined $10,000 (as a matter of fact tell the whole defense that).

Have all corners play tight on their men at all times. Rather take the occasional big play over getting 8-10 yds all the time.

Second, I would sign the players with the biggest names in free agency, because they probably only underperformed at their previous stops and would succeed with a change of scenery.

Get the damn cornerbacks to stop playing fifteen yards off of the LOS. That was driving me nuts all night. We need pressure...make it happen.

:bravo:

Everyone wants Roy gone, but didn't Hamlin miss more tackles than Roy did?

Be more aggressive with the corners/coverage, regardless of whether Newman is back.

I use more blitzes, more stunts, and anything at all possible to get a better pass rush. Get Ware, Spencer and Williams to the Quarterback.

Don't forget to work on tackling. Not flailing arms to the torso. Tackle low and hold on

Those three monsters going full speed to the QB, on a consistent level, would put us in the Super Bowl, guaranteed.

We know we have an offense.l:)

My brother, that is good stuff you got in Austin?

Yes he did miss the tackles, and I think that can be cleaned up, but this tells me that he's much more involved than RW. He was in on several plays, he seems to be in more places than RW is, when back in the day, RW was the one all over the field.

More zero coverages blitzes.

I kid.

On a serious note, I wouldn't necessarily increase the amount of blitzing or stunting; rather, I would focus on blitz execution during practice. Specifically, I would seek to improve the timing and disguising of my blitzes.

By a quirk of an unbalanced universe, you are the sole person in the universe (as we know it) who can come in on a one-week contract and fix what ails the Dallas defense.

What would you do, aside from getting back T Newman and teaching basic tackling techniques on the front line?

There is lots to do. Can you do it by correcting at least 3 things?

You are on the clock, experts!:D

I doubt its a quick fix.... but for the love of all that star-shaped.... get physical on defense. Jam a WR real hard at the LOS. When someone catches a ball let them know you arent happy about and blast them.

This worked real well against Indy last year. They started hearing footsteps and thought twice about reaching for a ball.
