You can't blame Eberflus

Yes. I'd say nfl is 60 percent coaching 40 players. Maybe even moreso leaning towards coaches. All of a sudden the chargers look like a legit team with pretty much the same players from 2023. We know why that is sir
Kinda off subject but I have a co-worker who is a Chargers fan.... When we sent Kellen Moore over to the Chargers to be their OC, my co-worker cussed me out (like I had anything to do with this. LOL) because as she said, he set their offense back the year he was there... LOL

They could get bullied at times but they led the league in turnovers for two consecutive years, with a defensive passer rating between 2nd and 9th. Not dead last. The pressures and sacks were also high under Quinn.
You don't even need to look into the stats. The difference is night and day between him and both Nolan and Eberflus.

Funny thing.

Eberflus in Indy had a much better defense than Dallas had.
Eberflus in Chicago had a better defense than Dallas had.
Do people really think that there is a scheme out there that would produce winning results with our DEs who struggle to set the edge vs the run and only generate pressure on pass plays 7% of the drop backs; with our LBs who can’t read their keys, seldom fill the right holes, miss tackles everywhere (especially in the open field), and are virtually worthless in pass coverage; with our secondary who can’t play zone but also get destroyed in man coverage, missing tackles, giving up long third down conversions regularly, with safeties who not only cannot cover receivers but also can’t cover TEs and are routinely the culprits in giving up redzone TDs.

Come on, man. Eberflus has refused to change his scheme, but since the players suck, is that not maybe best in the long haul? Making players adjust and learn the scheme so that the ones we keep actually get better next year?

I don’t believe for a second that even the best DC in the NFL this year could have gotten this bunch of bums out of the bottom third of all defenses. Take your pick….Im sure there would be some improvement, but no way anyone can take these DEs, LBs, and DBs, and lift it above bottom third. The best DCs have the best players.

I have no problem firing Eberflus this week if we bring in a better DC or a scheme we like better, but it will not reap the results we desire unless there is a major overhaul of defensive statistics. We need a stud edge rusher, capable LBs who can play the run and help in coverage, and while we don’t need stars in the secondary, we need a huge improvement at Corner and Safety.

Maybe you should check your facts before using a team like the Chargers as an example. There are a bunch of key players new to the Chargers this season.

Key Newcomers (Draft & Key Free Agents for 2025):
  • RB Najee Harris (Draft)…(I think the article meant Omarion Hampton); Harris was a FA, but both RBs were new to Chargers this year.
  • WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith (Draft)
  • OT Joe Alt (Draft)
  • QB Trey Lance (Acquired/Key Free Agent)
  • WR Tre Harris (Draft/Key Addition)
  • DL Jamaree Caldwell (Draft/New)
  • OLB Kyle Kennard (Draft/New)
  • LB Khalil Mack (Key Defensive Addition/Return)
  • WR Ladd McConkey, CB Donte Jackson, TE Tyler Conklin, OL Mekhi Becton, WR Quentin Johnston, S Derwin James Jr. (Key veteran additions/returns through trades/FA)

You are lost in the sauce. It's ok chucky.

A fan that understands the importance of good coaching.

The Minnesota game was a clinic on Defensive football:

Flores for Minnesota gave a master clinic on how to confuse an offense pre and post snap.

Eberflus gave an introductory clinic on how to play basic vanilla defense pre and post snap with very few exceptions.
